"And graeme you are quite prepared to have a 'pop' at people who have backed horses.....Zarkandar thread would be a good example"

I don't recall having a pop at anyone. I think i shared my view on this horse, and in return people disagreed. My CH is Grandouet.

Yes i did have a pop at trend followers. Some of them were exhibiting arrogance with people who disagreed with stats or trends, and are even dismissing a horse as a matter of fact instead of opinion.

I won't answer them Tucker. I'd rather keep it about the horse myself. Nothing much i can add because it's all down to the weather, and i wouldn't back against him going to the Ryanair now. The elements have spoken.

Now now girls - lets get back to FL please. I'm on at big prices in the GC, but will not be averse to getting that back on the day if he's in the ryanair.

He'll go for the gold cup. end of.
By:

When: 08 Mar 13 09:03
I'm not sure it is all down to the ground for FL tbh - imo he runs in the Ryanair whatever the going (unless Sir Des Champs misses the Gold Cup).

Only a week to find out now anyway.

Bally if you believe FL has always had a slim chance of running in the GC then that's your opinion. What Davy Russell says makes no difference, he has rejected this horse several times before including when he nearly won the Lexus. Mouse Morris would not run him in races like the HGC at Newbury and then the best 3 mile chases in Ireland if he wanted to run this horse in a Ryainair. He has campaigned this horse for the Gold Cup, that is a certainty. Now's it's about whether the owner wants two runners in the race or opts not to put all his eggs in one basket.

China Rock not in the Ryanair, the ground is not drying out at Cheltenham....we all know where O'Leary has told Mouse FL has to run
By:

When: 08 Mar 13 14:39
O'Leary will want Davy on board as well cos that other lad Cooper aint Cheltenham class. Everyone in the world is saying FL should run in the Ryanair including Walsh and Geraghty at a preview the other night, as well as Davy himself...forget what morris says - he'll do as he's **** told

FL has been targeted as a Gold Cup horse, of that there is no doubt but after the Lexus connections just know that SDC is a more substantial candidate. In fact, its getting boring talking about it and trying to convince certain people that they're just wasting their money backing him in a Gold Cup. I've said it for two months, I've told the lads to pile in to the Ryanair for long enough and I'll honestly just laugh my arse off if he doesnt run on Thursday.

I agree that FL has been campaigned as a GC horse, no doubt about. But in his actual runs, especially the last 2 this season he has shown a far greater level of consistency, travelled very well but imo when it has come to final furlongs of the race he has been left wanting.

So whilst he has been campaigned that way, he is not ready to win a GC so his best chance of success lies in the Ryanair...imo of course.

What I disagree with bally about is that if SDC had flopped in the Hennessy, he would be running in the GC and it was that run, not the Lexus, that will have proved to connections that it was better to wait a year with FL

What's wrong with having two live chances in the GC ?  A few years down the road Gigginstown may have a couple of 2.5milers and no GC horse so whilst they have two REALISTIC chances of winning the GC I'd let them take their chance.  Davy undoubtably wants to split them and Mouse doesn't.  In my view O'Leary is inclined to let the trainers make the final call - at the end of the day that is what they are paid for and if they make too many bad calls then dont give them the quality horses.  So I think this fella will still turn up in the GC and if settles he stays.  Beaten 2l by bobsworth last year and has earned a lot more experience than BW in the following 12 mths - it's gotta make sense to let him take his chance - only 1 GC

I can just imagine the conversation....

Mouse 'He is running well and should go to the GC'
ol - 'nope - ballydoyle on the betfair forum says Ryanair and that's good enough for me'
Mouse now drops the h-bomb 'he is training better than War of Attrition did'
ol 'GC it is'

Ming, obviously what gets said on here is irrelevant. However, the horse is out of Presenting whos progency act better on better ground. He's a horse who needs good ground to run to his optimum over the longer trip. This is why he will go for the shorter race. Forget what this, that and the other say. It will be a ground based decision.

Ming...c'mon now..I've always said he should run in the Champion Chase...incidentally I had 100 ew on The War at 12s...aaah...anyway I thought it was all down to Graeme83's weather forecast where he goes no?Graemes had a max fiver on so he really really needs it to run in the Gold Cup...otherwise he'll vent all his anger at the stattos from his bedsit on Tuesday whilst we are all shuffling around in the bars tryin to get served at the track
