Indeed Sonko. Was very impressive.

Takes a good horse to jump like that after such a fall, Far West is struggling since his similar fall at newbury. Maybe the horse thought to himself, that fooking hurt lto, i am not doing that again

Good thread bump CMIYC.
I'd have to go for Valseur Lido too. Couldn't help but be impressed in what looked a very good renewal. It was this time last year that Felix Yonger was looking really good, so not getting carried away yet though. |
By:
Yeah, impressed with Iriving too. Will have to improve a fair bit yet, but on the right track imo. Aurore D' Estruval has to be a good bet for the mares at 6/1 based on that run and the news about Annie Power today.

cmi, im still waiting for Kalene to run again. I was very impressed with both of them on their seasonal debuts and have backed them since.

'still waiting for Kalene to run again' WHO ?
By:
Kalane, maybe i got one letter wrong. She is the horse that beat Monbeg Theatre easily fto.

I agree with Sonko. Irving was, indeed, a joy to watch

A very nice round of jumping from Saphir Du Rheu at Exeter yesterday.
He looked athletic and natural at the obstacles. Not sure how good the form is to be honest but to the eye it was very pleasing. PFN holds him in high regard. He was a 160 rated hurdler and being only 5 there should be plenty of improvement to come. Hopefully he can improve and add to the exciting Novice Chasing brigade. |
By:
Agree Brandy, its SAPHIR DU RHEU for me too, he pinged the fences, and bolted up, and the 12/1 from Betfair to win Any Cheltenham Festival Race was too big to resist.

DODGING BULLETS.....(The Sligo h/cap winning) 6yo had the right ammunition to take the Tingle Creek Chase at Sandown.
With crack two-milers Sprinter Sacre and Sire De Grugy on the sidelines, the way was clear for a new name on the Grade One roll of honour and Sam Twiston-Davies and his mount were full of running two out. Nicholls said: "I thought he'd win the last day at Cheltenham, but it looked like he needed it. He's always been a hard horse to train as he's very buzzy. We've been hard on him since his last run. Today was the best he's ever looked and he was as fit as he'll ever be. Horses like him have to be at their very best and he was. The Champion Chase will be our aim now. He's getting stronger and better and we know how to train him now. We'll get him at his best at Cheltenham and he should be there with a chance." |

I was very impressed with Mala Beach yesterday.
By:
But agree Saphir du Reu took the biscuit. He jumped beautifully.
By:
I like saphir du rheu as well and PN does speak very highly of him, what race do we think he will run in though? I was sure he would be aimed at the JLT but now Southfield theatre has disappointed I wonder if he will be stepped up for the RSA???

Saturday - Clarcam.
Sunday - Highland Retreat. Honorable mention for Clean Sheet at Sandown Saturday as well, Looked to wander when hitting the front and got caught near the line, Great run after near 2 years off since its p2p win, Won't be long in winning and could prove to be a good un. |
By:
I'm surprised no one has given a mention to Poole Master.
He jumped beautifully and was given a terrific ride by Tom Scudamore. I didn't realise till after the race that Tom had never won over the National fences before. |
By:
Not much scope for improvement but the best performance was surely by Wishfull Thinking. Dodging Bullets is a close second and could still have more to come but his record after Xmas is poor.

KINGS PALACE.....will have impressed most 2day.
By:
SEEDLING (WJ Greatrex/G Sheehan) wins well (liked the way he came up that wee hill) - might make a 145+ hurdler.
By:
Peace and Co - that was an astonishing performance.
By:
indeed
By:
yep peace and co hard on the bridle the whole way round..reminded me of mtoy, pulling jacobs arms out too!.
By:
11 seconds quicker than the earlier hurdle race on the same card
By:
Blacklion, such a natural over his hurdles.
By:
The New One continues to impress and unless Faugheen is really exceptional, he looks the right favourite for the CH. Blaklion was impressive on the day but not sure what he beat.
By:
I was at Cheltenham this weekend, Kings Palace's jumping was exceptionally good for a novice on his second chase start
By:
Able Friend! Simply sensational.
By:
value at risk (newbury 17/12 )
By:
Value at Risk certainly impressive but why would he beat Shaneshill or Silver Concorde who both beat him in Ireland?
By:
Best I see run was The New One.
Most promising was No More Heroes and Peace & Co. |

Fine Theatre...Fine performance by Joncol bro' Theatre...
"You can't beat breeding. For a King's Theatre he handled the ground very well and he jumps better than (half-brother) Fine Article. He jumped very well for a horse first time with no point-to-point experience. He looks like a nice horse for the boys again. Mikey was very impressed with him there. I made a bit of a mistake. I was standing at the last with Gordon Elliott and gave a shout at Mikey. He thought there was something coming at him so hit him three or four so that was my fault!. He's a nice horse, by the right sire. The whole family showed they liked soft ground no matter what the sire. He handles heavy ground very well and has a fair knee action. We'll definitely stick to that with him but we have no plans at the moment" - Paul Nolan, trainer. |

After Keen Leader puts us right in DIV 1 today.....another one of Chemical Nicky's... OK CORRAL... has a very bright future
(and is also well related - €90,000 3-y-o, Mahler gelding. Dam, winning pointer, sister to very smart hurdler/top-class chaser TIDAL BAY). ...and more signs of a victory to come tomara with an "unknown quantity" in the 4.40 ALTIOR. "He won a summer bumper with his head in his chest but he’s better than that grade. This will be the first time I’ve sat on him when he takes in the listed bumper but his work has been very good indeed and all the right people at Seven Barrows have been telling me that he’s a horse with a very bright future". |

Top Notch

By:
It is very hard to predict the value of a bumper but Wait For Me (Ascot 4.50) could be anything. I backed it but after 4 furlongs he looked a long striding, backward, frame of a horse that would be swamped by something with speed in the straight. Instead, he just kept galloping and left them all behind without having a hard race.
