NO MORE HEROES.....still has it to prove in a real melting pot race such as the RSA. I'd be willing to give him the benefit that the couple of below par runs over hurdles can be excused due to immaturity / sickness and he has now matured into a proper horse. In fairness he had a huge frame to fill. He also has the benefit of being with a proper Grade One chase trainer in Elliot (I think it's all but one of his dozen grade one successes have been over fences). mincer11 • November 30, 2015 5:49 PM GMT No More Heroes is a proper horse, absolutely no doubt about it. The faster the ground the more vulnerable he maybe so Cheltenham might be where he doesnt show himself in a really good light. Good ground is surely a worry, he looks a fine big horse who appreciates soft and even worse. He should have won the Albert Bartlett last year, got the worst ride of the meeting bar none. Theres no way any other top jockey would have got beaten on it, and theres no way any other top jockey would have been blackguarded the way Cooper was. |

I thought that was some performance by Don Poli against a race fit Many Clouds.
By:
Don't forget that Many Clouds was giving him 5lb and that Many Clouds was lapped in the Gold Cup.
By:
yeh,I was not that impressed with DP to be honest, but he is an improver and he does keep going.
He would need to be a fair bit better to trouble this Gold cup field.......I imagine he will be better come March though. Bowles gone 4,s ![]() |

Not the best performance of the weekend but I had backed Bertie Boru e/w in the last at Sandown and for most of the race expected him to end up tailed off or pulled up. He was among the last few and made at least 2 really stopping mistakes that knocked him back when he had passed a few. Despite all that, he kept responding and finished fourth. Great trial for the Welsh National if he jumps better.

Djakadam was the horse to take for me this weekend. Backed accordingly for Gold Cup
By:
Djakadam agree, great return unlike last year when Mullins hurried him up for the Hennessy with the low weight as the open secret but lacking proper fitness in November, like most of his horses at that time of year.
By:
And Djak was only 5 when he ran in the Hennessy. He should improve a lot for another year and the performance yesterday suggests he has.
By:
Djakadam was the best performance of the season so far imo.

AVENIR D'UNE VIE
...well-backed, opening at 7/4 this morning before going from 4/5 to 8/11 on-course. "He'll stay in bumpers. We'll try and find a winners race and then, if we can, find a third one before he goes novice hurdling next year. "We thought he was top drawer with what he was doing at home." Have a closer look at the 2nd (Nina on Delegate) and long way back 3rd - they were both 'all out' ! |
By:
Backed this fella today and it was very impressive. But it did look a p1ss poor race, and even if Delegate was trying hard to beat his well backed fellow Gig horse, the form still amounts to very little imo.
One to follow for sure though. |
By:
Agreed it may have been only a two horse race..."Elliott's Delegate set the standard on the back of his placed form in bumpers and a maiden hurdle. His fourth place in a Fairyhouse bumper to Identity Thief in November last year certainly catches the eye, as that horse won the Grade One Fighting Fifth Hurdle in Newcastle recently."
Not sure why they would want to win/run three bumpers with him ?????....(because they can !). |
By:
Just think that they not have been trying too hard to beat their other runner. That was a massive gamble!
By:
gamble ? may have has a lot of accums riding on it imvho

Although Village Vic was impressive, I thought that Champagne West ran really well on his first start of the season.
By:
Big fan of Champagne West, think he can go onto to good things, might even be better over 3 miles in the future too. Looked a top prospect last season until he fell, glad to see him jump well on his return.
By:
ANYone see PRESENTING PERCY outgun odds on favourite Canelie (who was making her Irish debut after winning her last four French bumpers) by a couple of lengths in Galway's two mile maiden hurdle.

Ah, I like this thread - not watched all the racing this w/e - the obvious one was Seeyouatmidnight today but we know all about him - I was also impressed with Cultivator at Ascot in the race won by Altior last year, not sure how strong this year's renewal was though.
Going back to Ibrahima's post above, I'm worried about Champagne West, not mentioned in Hobbs stable tour (although Brookhouse has form forn moving them around) and lost all confidence in his jumping at the end of last season. Does anybody know what's happening with him? |
By:
Champagne West has been moved to Henry De Bromhead.

BEL AMI DE SIVOLA
BEL AMI DE SIVOLA BEL AMI DE SIVOLA ...5yo just pushed along and battled to win easily at Down Royal.....Jockey Sean Flanagan (for trainer Noel 'Best I ever Had' Meade) was mightily impressed. Staying Chaser in the making (everything this year is just a bonus)...Will have his 'own thread' late next year ![]() |
By:
Bel Ami De Sivola is a lovely big horse. He was very impressive when winning a Punchestown bumper last time and will be a cracking staying chaser of the future, though hopefully he will win his fair share of hurdles before then, maybe starting here" - Bryan Cooper.

Not the weekend but Might Bite was impressive until what happened at the last. I was away from my TV at the time but had my biggest bet of the holiday in this one and was mortified to see the replay. Premier Bond from the same yard who followed Might Bite home in his previous race might be interesting next time.
By:
Premier Bond duly delivered at quite a generous price. On a literal interpretation of the form, he might have won the Feltham!
By:
Look like BEL AMI DE SIVOLA is set to run in Naas in the Lawlor's Hotel Novice H'dle Grade 1 of €90,000.00 (Formerly the Slaney Novice H´dle (Grade 2) of €37500.00 5-y-o plus 2m.4f.).

DD goes as well, Bel AMI will be fighting for a place at most . Mullins looks to have a decent hand also

Certainly got some engine but wasn't very impressed by his jumping. Thought Romain de Senam was very impressive. Still only 5 and fences could be the making of him. One to follow for me.
