I am in the same boat... Hes a p2p winner, cheltenham festival record is win and second, and if you take Hurricane Fly out of the Champion hurdle he would have won as he liked and Hurricane fly is as good a champion hurdler we have seen since Hardy Eustace era... You could also right off his Aintree run as the season was all but over
Took him in a speculative double with Sea Moon 7/1 for the leger a few weeks back.. Heres for hoping Sea Moon wins and I have a tasty bet on peddler to get through the cold winter months, Roll on Tuesday, March 13 2012! |

same could be said of celestial halo and get me out of here last season. hurdles and chasing very diofferent price about right imo although could be a trade in this price largely due to his reputation.
By:
Yep, it's a total different game to hurdling.

8/1
![]() ![]() ![]() I seem to remember Celestial Halo being 8/1 for the arkle this time last year, what happened again ![]() |

thanks for that Form Man I think somebody beat you to that post at 16:20

By:
sorry howdi,didnt read it,shows your a smart guy tho,great minds eh[;)] |

By:
^^^^ very good.
For some reason Form Man have a memory for Ante Post prices from previous seasons. I could win awards I think for my memory I'm off to Vegas next week to card count. |

Celestial Halo is flat bred and in training since he was 2 ffs, world of difference from an ex ptper, **** stupid to compare them, the only thing they have incommon is that they were both placed in a CH, and PC's CH was a much better race. Only an idiot would lay that 8/1 imo.
By:
as much as i am a fan of PC,their is no way i would be taking single figures, at this stage, for any horse in a race where i aint seen any of them jump a fence.
Out of interest, anyone know prices of previous Arkle winners before their season started?? |
By:
Exactly Howdie, Peddlers cross is a p2p winner... Am sure McCain will place him perfectly to mop a few chases and his price will contract
By:
8/1
![]() ![]() ![]() sorry,just had to laugh again |
By:
What price would u have him at?
By:
Should be 12 the field imo.None of us got a clue how they will cope with fences.
8's! no thanks. |

Apologies, i was pissed, no I don't, but I really do think he is the most likely winner at this stage, I would back him if he was 12's, apologies for the language.

170 chasing home the best hurdler we've seen in a decade, CC won an Arkle with average jumping imo, I think he can afford to be slow at them, just don't hit them, if he takes to it, I can see him blasting off and making all, like Finains, except we know this lad will finish, his run at Chelts would have won most of the champion hurdles this decade.

By:
![]() neil shows himself to be a top man very rare to see that on the forum!!!!! |

By:
agree with latest post apart from been slow at 'em.

I was langers graduated from Uni yesterday, absolutely bladdered, myself and a pal were having the Kauto/Denman thing as well last night, bit hungover now, don't know what I meant by slow at them, I was trying to get at his flat speed between fences, I wan't him to be a success, 2 mile division needs him and I am not really crazy about last seasons novices, I need a new favourite chaser no Kauto is on the way out.

Yes, very exciting he is, they look the two most likely to me, you'd think Nicholls will have something as well.
If they can get him to settle a bit better he could be a monster, funny thing as well, I don't think running a little free is the worst thing in the world in a 2 mile chase, it isn't the same stamina test as hurdles imo and it can be hard to make up ground at Cheltenham when the fella in front really travels, ie sizing europe |
By:
To be honest i dont think we will see the best of PC till he runs over further than 2m.Looks a potential Gold Cup horse to me.Whether he can win an Arkle on the way as others have done remains to be seen, but no way would i take 8's at this stage to find out.
And anyone who thinks he can win an Arkle without jumping needs to hope he dont have much opposition!! Captain Chris won the Arkle jumping OK and the best jumper in the race had nothing at the finish, basically he outstayed FR. |
By:
Yes, budd, I'd agree with a lot of that, if he can get a trip, he'd be very difficult to beat with the speed he has, but I seem to remember Reve de Sivola closing him down a bit at the end of the Neptune, he is a more mature horse now of course though. The 2 mile division needs a bit of stardust imo.

Looking at the likely candidates for the Arkle,i see some pretty classy horses.Potentially this race could be something special, and personally i want to wait to see them jump a fence at the current prices on offer.
Last season i got on FR at 32 before he had jumped a fence on the strength of what BG was saying about his schooling, and it nearly came off,but their is a big diffence between 32 and 8's. |
By:
finnians last year at 33s was amzing trade went off 1/6 and 1/4 only had to win for his price to contract big time!
By:
vpu was 40s on here ,early on before he went to warwick and onto arkle glory
By:
sure we always think the arkles going to be a blinding race at this stage.in the last few years its tended to fall away,as injuries and alternative plans take effect
By:
Yep,but the thing is,had he been 8,s i would not have backed him.
When looking at Arkle horses i normally wait till i have seen them jump, and if that means taking shorter prices then so be it. |
By:
in years gone by no horse on here would have been 8-1 in july, for the arkle.
im willing to be proved wrong, but i wont be.. people are just giving their positions away and firms must be killing themselves laughing as they get away with opening books on undervalued horses |
By:
Agree with Budd and Tweedle. I think we can name 20 good, strong possibles for this race, so 8s is ludicrous IMO
By:
sizing europe was 8-1 in october couple of years ago and he won from memory but he had an outing the previous may
By:
8-1 fav ^^^^
By:
Even money for his beginners chase, amazing to think eh, jumped like an old handicapper, i was in a bookies that night and backed him, thought of sticking the lot on him for the Arkle but bottled it, watch the race, seriously you'll see why he won the Arkle, Arkle winners ain't supposed to come out in May I said ro myself.

Never loved Sizing like most chelts horses though, don't know why, just never did, might be cos of his champion hurdle, amazing, he should have been a Champion huedle, Aekle and Champion Chase winner, who d fcuk has done that, but I don't love him?, maybe he's just too handsome, d bastard.
By:
No nor me Neil are they campaigning him over 2 miles this year?
By:
I suppose they might try again, but if it didn't work this year, I'm not sure why it should work next, maybe the issue with the horse is not trip, but how he is feeling, he seems to be a horse you have to build for a day these times Howdi, so maybe if they could get him to a gold Cup in the form he was in on Champion Chase day, who knows, not for me really though at this stage.
By:
I fancied him for the champion hurdle this time last year but didnt back him as he jumped from 33s to 25s an i felt the value had gone. Thanks to HF i didnt make a complete tit of myself by not backing him but one thing I have realised is that the if you fancy someting and you feel that it is to short it just means that lots of other people agree with you. Personally i would not be put of by 8/1 as he will no doubt have a nice intro at bangor and be 5s after that, wether he wins or not come March you guess is as good as mine
By:
IS he starting at bangor any news on peddlers likely campaign...
