2 words re races in close succession as introduction ... Mikael D'Haguenet.
By:
2 others.....Well Chief.
By:
He didnt have two and a half weeks between his debut and the Arkle, he had a nice break of well over a month afterwards for them to sort his jumping.
By:
Mikael D'Haguenet has nothing to do with this. he came back from a season on the sidelines
i agree starluck could be interesting and hopefully will strengthen the race. but its all guess work i know antepost betting at the start of the season is guess work when a horse hasn't jumped in public, but they have plenty of time to sort out any little problems they may have fencing |
By:
2 points, Eric. Starluck may already be a good jumper and Mikael D'Haguenet had been off the track for 18 months before they tried to run him twice in 2 weeks.
By:
And I'd agree with you on that brandy but at the prices he represents value to me.
By:
i think he is value if he wins his chase. because he will shorten and you can lay off and have a decent free bet. i haven't bet on the race and wont till the day so i hope he can throw his hat in the ring and make the race alot more interesting
By:
booster ... the last time you were sure one could jump fences was a horse called ......? A clue is it couldnt and is now out of the picture. I told you he couldnt jump before his second run in which he fell when you thought he jumped well first time out until the mistake. More of the same cluelessness from you?
By:
as a layer, i will accompany anyone ,starluck is a appropriate name and you aiming at the stars thinking it can win.I need a holiday so keep punting guys
By:
booster .. it was Spirit River ... you strongly fancied him the Arkle and you thought he jumped very well first time out .. but you hadnt backed him before or after that of course
![]() |
By:
why would anyone get joy of someone else loosing money???????????
By:
That's the whole point, he didn't but strongly fancied him the Arkle. Strongly fancied = NO BET.
![]() |
By:
claimed he didn't
By:
Negative Eric. Who said this?
'I hope he will make a top class novice chaser. He is ready to go'. Nicky Henderson, about Spirit River, that's who. Why don't you ring him and let him know you know more than him? And for goodness sake stop being so negative. Try being positive, if you know what that means. We all come on here with our hopes and dreams only to be knocked down by you. You must be b l o o d y awful to live with. You are the epitome of a virus, draining. |
By:
booster
By:
Turned out I did know more than him and said it on here to booster after his first race that he couldnt jump properly and that 2 m was too short anyway. The backers (not booster who 'strongly fancied him' the Arkle though
) had there rose-tinted glasses on then also. |
By:
I am a realist try it you might be more successful.
By:
I don't know many people on the entire forum who have any time for Eric or his vile biased filled rants. He lives in cloud cuckoo land where he knows best and everyone else hangs on his pearls of wisdom in the hope of enlightenment
By:
I got way more than Spirit River right, stroll on fella.

By:
magic, have you an interest in the arkle?
By:
Yes brandy i backed Finians Rainbow at 10s downwards, have saved on Medermit at 8s and backed Starluck at 40s that wins me a decent amount. How about yourself?
By:
Not sure what price would tempt me but less than 20s and Starluck will be one of the first I put a line through. I can't see his flat speed - if that's even rock solid - counting for much in an arkle and he doesn't seem to have many other weapons. Fair enough to those on at bigger prices who lay off though.
Isn't he on the small side as well? Not that I know if that's a problem in the arkle. |
By:
What have you backed Please?
By:
not had a bet yet. thought medermit was value before his sandown win as couldn't see much between him and fb. think his price is right now
still not sure who the winner is yet. change my mind daily i'm trying hard not to have any antepost this season. as the last few years i've done much better backing the horses on the day |
By:
It is each to their own Brandy sometimes the picture can be a little murky rather than it becoming clearer.Kicking myself i didn't back Medermit at 14s prior to his Sandown win but then sometimes you simply get things wrong and have to live with it.I dont know if any of my 3 will win but i'm happy with my position at present
By:
Why are you on here then as a matter of interest if you back day of race having found antepost none profitable in the past?
By:
because i love horse racing
![]() ![]() |
By:
Brigust - I won't embarrass myself by declaring what i've backed antepost for this - needless to say Starluck has more chance of winning
![]() I think it has an open look to it this year and I'll be looking for a value option on the day but I think finding a race that starluck can win is difficult. It is, of course, incredibly difficult to compare Starlucks 2010 champion hurdle form with say, Finians Rainbows Chase form. |
By:
It is possible to take an interest without having to have had a financial interest. Eric you should try it sometime it might help you watch things without the cash blinkers on
By:
Tis not I wearing the cash blikers here

Sorry, Eric, I had to go last night , as I have other things to do but post on here all night but, yes, I admit to having been a strong fancier of Spirit River. I backed him at 5-2 for the Cheltenham race in which he fell but haven't changed my mind that Finian's Rainbow doesn't find that much under pressure , as he was beginning to show at Warwick, where his jumping wasn't anywhere good enough to win an Arkle and Ghizao won't be quick enough although I guess he's the stronger candidate on chasing form. My Arkle portfolio has turned out better than I've usually done on the race due to having backed Realt Dubh at 28 and laid off for free after he won the Irish Arkle but there's nothing great about any of the top 4 or 5's form.
Very childish to be picking at people's fancies, You can't be backing that many horses if you never get it wrong. If you don't fancy Starluck, that's OK, just let others have their vfew as I said in November when I was fancying Spirit River, who could still turn out to be top class just like any others in the race could. I think you may be scared of Starluck and wouldn't blame you for that. |
By:
No doubt that IF Starluck takes to fences,he is a big player, cos his hurdles form is better than the rest,in most cases a lot better.Reading this thread their will be a lot of interested people watching his chase debut, some wanting him to fail, and others like me wanting him to do well and provide a real fascinating addition to the race.
Thats what we want i would think. If he has Dan Breen amongst the opposition in his debut race,he will have a real test, cos Dan was impressive lto and jumped really well(the last excepted)and imo has a squeak in the Arkle himself. |
By:
the old scared routine ...lol
By:
I'd have to agree about Dan Breen, the only negative being for me that I think he ran poorly at last year's festival and wonder if he's better on a flat track. That Huntingdon race looks hot and I've been saying for weeks that this market's got a long way to go due to the bad weather we had mid season.
By:
Doesnt look hot, none of the others look good enough for the Arkle.
By:
Is that you being thorough again? please look through the form of the favourites and tell me who they've beaten who is good enough to win an Arkle? I'll save you the time. Nothing.
By:
to be fair Dan Breen ran agood race for a long time in the supreme, and got outpaced from 2 out against what now looks a pretty good field.
he looks a real natural chaser to me and is improving with races, would be dangerous to dismiss imo,and current price is more than generous. Fences can make a big difference to a horse, its possible thats the case here. |
By:
Just looking through all the Arkle threads. On the 27th Jan the decs were out and 2 of mine, Flat Out and Thousand Stars non runners. Went through the info again and on 6th Feb added Starluck to Finians Rainbow. Nice prices, win or lose.
Now Starluck has a thread all of his own and, without question, has brought a great deal of interest to this race. I did notice Eric was calling all of us f u c k w i ts on the other threads so no change there. He really should get himself sorted. Anyway the bandwagon is still rolling and what looked like a low interest race has set the taste buds salivating. Let the games begin. |
By:
That's a great way of looking at it. with Starluck in the race, I think the winner will have to beat a potentially top class horse without whom the race looks a lot more ordinary.

Confirmed today:
Alan Fleming has revealed Tony McCoy will partner Starluck on his chasing debut at Huntingdon on Thursday with a view to riding him in the Arkle Trophy at Cheltenham. The six-year-old was last seen finishing third in the Christmas Hurdle at Kempton but he is now set for a late-season switch to the larger obstacles. With regular rider Timmy Murphy set to partner leading fancy Ghizao at Cheltenham, Fleming has been on the lookout for a new jockey and is delighted to have secured the services of the 15-times champion jockey. "All going well, he'll run on Thursday and he's in good form," said Fleming. "Obviously he's best on good ground but he'll run on soft. He'll go just as long as it's not heavy. "Tony McCoy has been down to school him and he's going to ride him on Thursday. "He's free and he doesn't really have a horse to ride in the Arkle. We couldn't have Timmy so to have someone as good as AP to ride instead is great. "We'll have to see what turns up on Thursday, but we're looking forward to it." |
