go away mate evrything about this horse screams quality the nicholls horse was highly regarded by the champ trainer sprinter gave him 14lb and laughed at him the way he looks what a magnificent looker too bring on the supreme im on at 25s and wouldnt swap him for anything

Fair enough - didn't realise he was a sick horse after his first time defeat. ^ Alvarado, well played to you - you have a good bet at 25s for sure. I'm really making the point that backing him now at 8 or 9-1 makes very little sense. He's not guaranteed to run, he might be second choice of the Henderson pair if he does, and has only won small-field races in which they've crawled round.

Not many do, IS, but the real good ones tend to win their novice hurdles even if they are not 100% on the day. Anyway, not knocking the horse at all, just the price.

the good ones win if the instructions are to win/win if you can or if you can rather than introduce.
Barry G is one of the best jockeys for a novice to be under given little pressure from the trainer imo. What price you on about btw ? |

next you and your mates will be telling me that 1833 is a stayer (like burton port ;) ) SS looks to have the scope to chase but he has speed to burn. So let him hurdle at speed. ps FR isnt that good. |

He's the only horse in the Supreme that I could see being a player in next years Champion Hurdle. Cue Card, Spirit Son, Al Ferof etc all look they will be better 2m4f+ chasers in the future. He looks all speed and class to me so if he's definitely going chasing next season where can I get a price on next years Arkle

Ibra, I hope your not beceoming another eric morris whereby people cant have an alternative view ?
I said he reminds me of Finians, a bit. And NJH seems keen for fences next season tbf, but ofcourse his path could be completley different if he partakes in the Supreme(he will) and wins, or goes close to winning. I aint doubting his abiltity or potential. |

Do you think he will come down the hill at speed on better ground when race hots up, no denying he will come up the hill but race may well be over if Spirit Son/Cue Card already gone.
He is a big horse and can see that being his downfall, but fact you on at big prices lads good luck. |

Some momentum building for the horse now. Just seems to be shortening up everywhere. I backed him at around 25's in November. The roller coaster nature of Cheltenham might not suit but a fast run race on better ground almost certainly will. He has speed to burn - he beat Habbie Simpson more than a distance at Ayr last year on good ground without breaking sweat. If he runs in the Supreme, I'll be very surprised if Geraghty allows anyone else on his back.

Was just watching the replay on sky plus and afterwards Barry seemed pretty keen. It sounded very likely that they think he can win the supreme. I guess now Barry has a decision to make. I wouldn't be suprised if Carberry rides one of them as has been mentioned before. They are both really good though. If Cue Card had won in the style of these two in the past couple of weeks he would be in all of the headlines. I don't think either of them are far behind tbh.

Not sure where Nightwalker is coming from. Don't understand why people think big horses can't go round Chelt, or run down any hill. this horse travels like none I've ever seen, it's going to suit him when he's in 3rd gear cruising down the hill and the rest are in overdrive.

The only form worth entertaining for a festival race is that previously demonstrated in a festival race. Plenty of races wont have any candidates, however, this one does and there is only one winner

Cos loads of Champion Bumper winners have gone onto win another race at a festival. Dunguib, Cork All Star, Cousin Vinny, Missed That, Hairy Molly, etc etc. The only two I can think of were Monsignor and Florida Pearl, and they were over longer trips. Silly thing to say MLK.

I expect Sprinter Sacre to run at Cheltenham. If he doesn't run there, I don't see him at Aintree either where the sharp turns would not do a tall, big topped horse any favours. His profile is very similar to a top novice of nearly 20 years ago. Carobee missed Cheltenham then beat Halkopous 4 lengths at Aintree with Flown back in 4th place. He never saw the racetrack again. I suspect the Duke is still turning in his grave at a clear oppotunity for a Festival winner missed!

Fans of the Nicky Henderson stable should have been on SPRINTER SACRE @ 25/1 at the beginning of the season. Both Nicky and Barry mde it clear to people last season at Ascot that Sprinter Sacre would be their best Novice Hurdler this season and next years Arkle winner. I advise all to back him E/W for the Supreme Novices Hurdle because if he gets there he will be bang there at the end.

I have backed this horse and like him a lot but .....
His best RPR is 134. Spirit Son has a best RPR of 155. Cue Card has a best of 156. There are over 30 horses entered in the supreme with better weight adjusted ratings. |

Yes but why do you like him? You probably like him because of the latent talent he has displayed, not what he has actually achieved on the racecourse which is what the ratings refer to.

I agree that Cue Card is the biggest danger to Sprinter Sacre and he certainly deserves his rating. He has a higher rating at this stage than Menorah had last season.
Sprinter Sacre has only showed 70% of what he can do. I believe Mr Henderson said this one is a lot better than Amaretto Rose who would have won the Supreme Novices Hurdle without take a costly bump two out. |

Interesting observation grade 1 but lies, damned lies and statistics!!
Poungach, who he finished 8 lenths in front of at Ascot despite not being right has a best RPR of 139. Habbie Simpson, who SS beat 28 lengths in the bumper at Ayr last season has an official rating of 139. There can be absolutely no doubt that he is capable of running to 150+. This horse is crying out for a fast run race on better ground. He will probably get both in the Supreme. It takes a very good one to get Nicky excited and he is certainly excited about SS. |

Im glad now people are starting to get the picture with this horse. as you can see from my comment on nov 19th and on the other thread concerning him sometime ago this horse has unlimited potential.clearly after 2 recent wins on the bridle there is some momentum building with him.Mayweather is corrrect above that weve hardly scratched the surface of this horses ability.After coming back wrong from his hurdling debut at ascot he hardly left his box over the xmas period and went into ffos las and again ascot this week with lots to work on.He is without doubt not just nickys best novice ( although ) spirit son is very very good too ) but the apple of his eye.He , along with all at seven barrows really believe this fella could be special...so much scope and room for improvement. He is next years arkle horse for sure and even a queen mother winner imo but we dont want to get to far ahead of ourselves.
Either way make no mistake, although he hasnt really beaten much and is yet to come even off the bridle so on form he has to find plenty with the likes of cue card , Sprinter Scare as i said pre xmas has more natural ability then any novice this year and i stick by that. What kinda horse pulls for over a mile of a race on bad ground then still kicks clear and stay on the bridle !! he is pure speed and a bute in truth. When he learns to settle on good ground ie in a fast race like the supreme i think we ll all see something very special...im on ew at 25-1 for chelt and clearly im happy with that but please bare in mind that this is a chaser in the making....if and when you can get a price for next years arkle i very much advise you to do so.Ive been in this game a long time and as stated by festivalfanatic recall the likes of carobee and many a good horse before but this fella might just be the best of the lot, lets hope so. good luck all. |

This won't get really intersting till Barry Geraghty declares his hand. He probably won't have to till much nearer the time. If either of the 2 SS's have a setback meantime, then the decision is made for him.
