It's a pity North don't have the same immense heart and resilience under horrendous circumstances that the Bulldogs have continually displayed this season. Maybe North should change their theme song to oh yes we're the great pretenders

That was better from the Eagles, the last 10 minutes of the second quarter was a good as they've played for weeks and weeks, during that period they got down and dirty and started working a hell of a lot harder and just turned the game on its head.
Kennedy, Shuey, McGovern and Barrass were outstanding, Wellingham, Cripps and Sheppard, were very good as was Priddis and Hurn. Basically for one of the few times all year it was a good solid team effort with very few that were not carrying their weight. The next three weeks will tell the story of their season with GWS away, Hawks here at home and Adelaide away if they're good enough they can put themselves right back in the hunt and at least their destiny is own in their hands. I'm hopeful but not confident but there's not much doubt this was a small step in the right direction. They still need to lift considerably again next week but you never know, they're a chance as it's not at the MCG at least which unfortunately is like entering the twilight zone for the Eagles when they play there currently. Naitanui and Sheed will both be better for the hitout, young Nelson was a solid contributor and did some really good things, Tunbridge is definitely worth persisting with as the kid just needs the chance to build some confidence at this level after a horror run with injuries since coming to the Eagles, he can play. McGovern an absolute laydown misere for the All Australian team. |

Hahaha took you until you got a win to take the bait. ;)
Back to the footy. North will get absolutely flogged by hawthorn. Now lost their book ends and depleted as the 2nd half has shown. Cant believe browns replacement is a highly promising kid, a mid fielder who was left out of the side due to soress is browns replacement. Still sticking to my statement. WCE overrated imposters with a full list are greatful north have so many injuries. WCE will not win another game this year. They ave 67 points for playing interstate. Brisbane like. The true pretenders |

last weeks match nth v. dogs .... was like outpatients at royal melbourne on a saturday night, injured bodies lying around all over the shop.
ps: no wonder the dogs look flat tonight.... 4 of last 6 games at the sand pit. i wonder when carlton will start the push to get to the mcg ?? that will be the next step confirming bolton as a very good coach. |

By:
It's starting to happen, 6 of their home games are there.

By:
ur right !!! just checked it..... this year they've had 9 games at the G and (only
) 7 at etihad. No wonder they had a long injury list early doors..... all 7 games at etihad in first 12 rounds ![]() ![]() ![]() |
|
By:
howw embarrassment ....... just checked and found out carltons home ground tenure at etihad finished last year and now they split their home games between the G (games expected to get 50000 plus) and etihad.
Interesting to see how the "completely unbiased" afl draw turns out next year for carlton !! |

Fantastic judgment again Megsy, won't win another game for the year, now that's funny
![]() ![]() ![]() Now exactly who's got little to no idea again, wonder where the other North apologist, stalker boy has disappeared to, no surprise that he's extremely conspicuous by his absence ![]() Only the 3rd time I've backed them all year, (Port away, Collingwood away a couple of weeks ago and today's game) like I said there were some good signs last week, arguably their best win all year and they earned it big time 23 points down and 3/4 time. Shuey magnificent, Naitanui second up a huge effort, McGovern outstanding, Yeo's critical mark in those dying minutes just a fantastic team effort which is what I've been wanting to see all bloody season. Whether they're good enough to take advantage of the opportunity they're now presented with is debatable but at least they've got their destiny in their own hands, monster game now against the Hawks next week. Lobbs going to look pretty good in an Eagles jumper as well next year ![]() |
|

Funny how how the Eagles were decimated by injury for much of last year and still made the GF, makes North's effort looks pretty pathetic doesn't it.

Sorry Gardenstar I can't help you there mate never saw any of the trading and never watched the game. Cats got out of jail though by the sounds of it.

unbelievable geelong... almost no game goes by without them starting to get into it half way through the third quarter.... did it again against richmond but missed the goalsticks and went in to the last quarter seemingly hopeless. Corey enright the key to geelong, just marks anything and everything loose into his area.

Your mob finally found themselves in what they thought was a winnable game Very and through everything at it, nice to see them get the win as a reward but with all due respect the suns are wracked by injuries and are missing virtually their entire first choice midfield.

Lets get your hand off your tool mate. 2015 12 games at home. Never played a top 5 team except freo twice. Never played a top 5 team in their home state except freo. Well doceument WCE was given the easist of fixture that year. In regards to yiur injuries. 3 or 4 at the most warly in the year and compensated playing the lower teams.
Compare to north. Yeah lets look at whose out abd has cost them possibly a final. Brown Higgins Waite Thompson Wright Mcdonald Wood Garner Jacobs Turner Hanson just played his first game for the year Goldstein played the last 12 weeks carrying an injury Swallow, cunnington, delsanto missed important games mid year together. On top of that.the hardest draw in the league. You wank too much |
|
By:
for me it was uplifting to just see them competitive for once
.. but the really pleasing part of the game was to see another "pick up" from the disaster years.... Jake long son of Michael looked a player, you little beauty another longy, knows how to get it and doesn't f.k things up when getting rid of it. That's 3 pick ups from the dark ages now !! tiptruckwooty, brown and long will be regulars alongside the prodigal sons next year..... and i'm starting to like your bloke from the west lets !! whoosha will work !! |

good motivator and man manager but tactics not his strength, as long as you surround him with good match day people he'll do well.
As for Megsy's belated reply it isn't even worthy of a response. |

By:
Because im right. ;) Talk about a one eyed WCE fan lol
![]() Cant believe WCE are odds on tonight. Imagine how short the hawks would be if played in nelbourne. Like i said no way WCE would have played in the 2015 GF if prelimary was played in melb ;) |
|
By:
I might be proved right on 2 things going by the first quarter. Hawks are over rated and either WCE playing their GF tonight and proving to me they cant win outside WA.
|

By:
H'mm seeing they've won four games on the road and have lost six games overall for the entire season to date and their wins have included away victories against Port, GWS ( who thrash good sides at their home ground) and again demolished the Hawks again at subi (forget the margin the Hawks were never in it at any stage and Eagles kicked three goals nine in the third quarter if they had kicked straight they would smashed them) which is more than what North have done after being 9 and zip they've haven't done too badly.
Arguably they should have beaten the Dogs away as well earlier in the year instead of going down by just 8 points and three of the six losses have been away to the Hawks at the G, Sydney at the SCG and against Geelong at Kardinia, not too many interstate teams win against those teams at hose venues. There's nto much doubt in any thinking person' mind who was right and who was wrong and which team has been massively ovverrated. I've never talked up the Eagles at all this year the only thing's I've said is that they need to improve further to be any chance of winning this year and have said that from the very outset of the season. I've said that they have consistently failed to play four quarters of solid footy for much of the season and that they haven't played as a team very often this season but I also steadfastly maintained that they hadn't played their best footy all season up until recently and again I've been proven correct and I said that if they found their best footy that it would well and truly be competitive against the better sides. Not mention that I said North were on of the worst top of the table teams I had ever seen afact I also constantly maintained, again prven correct but I've got no idea, now that's funny. I noticed that none of the Eagles detractors on here are prepared to give them any credit for for their systematic destruction of the hawks, I've never seen anything like what the Hawks were doing in the final quarter, they were 30 -40 points behind and were still kicking it sideways and backwards and simply refusing to attack Credit where credit is due, Simpson and his coaching staff did their homework and exposed the weaknesses of the Hawks big time and it was a fantastic all round team effort (which was long over due) by the Eagles whose frenetic pressure throughout made the Hawks look very average while the Eagles ball use was outstanding. My question to some of the Eagles boys is where the fuuuck has that been all season. It's going to be all but impossible to win it from without Naitanui and bringing Lobb home is now an absolute priorty if it wasnt alread y with Nic gone for all of 2017 as well but we'll see how good Lycett can be whenit really matters won't we. Another aspect which was really pleasing to see was Jetta actually look like he wanted to be there and again credit where credit is due he was one of the guys who set them alight early with his skills, chasing, tackling and harassment and ability to burst away from congestion. If he really comes to the party for the rest of the season that gives them another weapon with which they can call upon and Le Cras who is vitally important to the Eagles has started to work himself into some good form over the last month and is a real wildcard for the Eagles if he can recapture his best form so it's far from doom and gloom. Finally over the past three weeks or so Kennedy is marking everything and was outstanding again against the Hawks and in this form is capable of tearing anyone apart if given the opportunity. It's going to be all but impossible for them to win it from outside the top 4, and without Naitanui, which is where they're likely to finish thanks to that despicable Collingwood loss but you never know if they continue to play like they did on Friday night they'll trouble most teams. |

Absolutely disgraceful treatment of an out and out champion and club legend in Harvey, no wonder where North are where they are, going nowhere fast and about to plummet off the cliff.
Pitiful excuse oh we did so they can play their last game in meblourne in ront of their families friends, that's absolute rubbish and a complete abdication of responsibility The manner in which Harvey is playing (he was one of the few players that no only kept them in the game but got them back in the game against the Swans last week)and the fact that he hasn't lost his speed a club knocking on the door could do far worse than consider him for a year maybe even a second year if his form warranted it. Absolute amateur hour stuff compare Harvey's treatment to the manner in which Swan was feted yesterday. It's a completely ridiculous time to announce this with a big game this week and a final a fortnight later, you can really envisage Petrie, Firrito, Dal Santo and even Harvey putting their bodies on the line this week and in their following game, I'd tell the club to get fuuucked. Imagine how this is going to bubble away in the background with nearly a fortnight between their final game and their first final. This could potentially rip the club apart, the manner in which this has been handled is nothing short of diabolical. This is reminiscent of how the heart was completely ripped out of Brisbane after they off loaded and treated a club legend (who gave everything for his club) in Daniel Bradshaw like dirt in order to pick up that waste of space Fevola!!! |
|
By:
No doubt a very silly move putting harvey in with the likes of firrito and petrie. Dal Santo like harvey was still playing well and both can come to essendon in a heart beat imo. The worst aspect about norths performance this year has NOT been the players, who have been cruelled by injuries and have done an excellent job relative to the numbers of players going down with injury, but the COACH is the weak link in the chain. Scott is a dill, and you could see it manifesting itself very early on in his career with north, who has consistently preferred to play injured players (waite and goldstein the best examples of his stupidity) instead of those young players who he says need an opportunity to play. If he was so keen to play all these young stars, why not actually play them instead of injured players who were nothing more than witches hats when north needed to win crucial games. What was the point of playing waite for six weeks when he could barely move, barely bend his back and couldn't kick it more than 5 metres when he did get it. North are going nowhere with him in the coaches seat and while they have to play so many home games at that sandpit. I notice another two bad injuries there last round !!

No natanui no WCE no home final, no WCE.
A shocker by north. Rated 25 best player in the league. What were/are they thinking? There is light at the ebd of the tunnel. 4 or 5 kids who could be grears of the game will get a chance now. Kids like vikers-willis,ryan clarke, trent dumont, ben mackay (possible super star)in the future.mason wood, sam durdin, declan mountford, corey wagner, kayne turner. Future 100-200 game players. Forget about this year. The shock announcment has shot their year. Though i wish a miracle they play WCE in melb. Only chance of a finals win ![]() |

Don't be surprised if the Eagles knock off Adelaide boys, I am convinced Adelaide's midfield is their achilles heel.
Eagles are at an absolutely ludicrous price they'll give the Crows all they can handle and then some. The Eagles win last week had very little to do with Naitanui it was an all round team effort and their across the board relentless pressure and hunting of the hawks that won them that game if they bring that again they'll roll Adelaide. |
|
By:
People conveniently forget that Naitanui went for tendon surgery straight after the first Adelaide game and was struggling and ineffective in that game due to his achilles issues, the eagles are in much better form now and apart from Naitanui are close to full strength and they also now have Dom Sheed gradually running into some form again. If they don't win they'll give the Crows an almighty fright.
|
|
By:
Probably no need to but just layed off at 1.03 the eagles, well done boys,
sensational performance, maybe this will silence the knockers. ![]() ![]() ![]() Don't say you weren't told either, I also told you repeatedly how important a fit and healthy Dom Sheed is to this team as well and he'll only keep getting better and if Barrass doesn't get the rising star nomination this week then the people responsible for selections are fari dinkum playing with themselves it's absolutely mindboggling how he doesn't have one already. |
|
By:
Ok lets hand off the tool. Yes they played 4 quarters of good hard football.come good at the right time. Did i say all that?
![]() ![]() Anyway you be hoping that overrated north melb to beat GWS to get a home final. I guess its up to north, wce in WA or Adelaide in sth aus. Both fortresses. Prefer adelaide.WA has skinny oval not suited for north.. which ever team they play. Home ground advantage is easily 6 goals in a final |
|
By:
I suggest you get your hands off it mate I declared beforehand that the odds were ludicrous, didn't anyone watch their performance last week, I also declared what people should have known that Naitanui had nil influence in the first Adelaide game and immediately went for surgery following it as he was severely hampered by the tendon issues affecting his achilles.
I also categorically stated that the eagles were in far better form now than when they dominated the Crows for 3/4 at subi and then went bye byes in the final quarter, that loss and the Collingwood loss could still come back to haunt them but their is no team in better form going into the finals now. Over the past three weeks they have put together away wins against GWS (twice coming from 23 points down during that game) pummeled the Hawks last week and destroyed the Crows on the road, they've got a full head of steam now but its still going to be difficult but you can't do any more than win and win impressively. against quality opposition. Sheed fit and healthy and on the rise again just gives them that extra quality rotation through the midfield which they've been sadly lacking for much of the year and if Jetta can fire up and he showed some good signs again tonight at various stages who knows what can happen especially in the form that Kennedy is in, Despite Darling missing all those sitters (unusual for him) he had me pulling my hair out at the time as if he kicked even half of them the game would have been inthe bag far earlier than it was he still played well and is in good form, Shuey, Gaff and Priddis were outstanding and Barrass showed who's the quality young defender really is If those adjudicating the rising star actually bothered to watch him play all season he would be just about winning the rising star, instead incredibly up until now he hasn't been nominated. All it does is again clearly illustrate the unbelievable Eastern States bias that saw Justin Koschitzke in 2001 win it ahead of Daniel Kerr again a decision that still boggles the mind and justt for good measure the following year Saint Nick win it ahead of Chris Judd. Riewoldt was very good that season but Judd was out of this world from the moment he stepped onto the footy field. Anyway that's ancient history and its no surprsie to us over here as we're used to it by now and don't really expect it to be any different given those two classic examples. Weitering is going to be very good but Barrass is something pretty special and has shown it from day one, last year he was nowhere ready body wise and had to be thrown in at the deep end and showed plenty so look out in the future because this bloke is an absolute gun. |
|

i wouldn't be getting too excited after beating adelaide lets. Adelaide has been overrated all year imo, they are weak and haven't run out too many games this year. And when their best player is out, and also the player that has been carrying the midfield all year, Sloane ... well you know what can happen when up against a good midfield. Adelaide has been convincingly beaten by four of the other seven teams in the eight..... nothing to get carried away with imo.
