Fanning Mick 1.40
Pires Tiago 4.75 Zietz Sebastian 4.75 Dont have any corporate accounts...and no time to get to the local so will watch this "free money" one..... And will watch your other 2 with great interest.... |

henry the $7K wasn't a trade as a 1.40 fave, no one got on for that amount better than evens to trade off
and if so you would have been able to get out much shorter pre race there are some very BOLD lays at the trots these days (thank GOD) saw someone put up $30K to lay a 6/4 fave at 2/1 a few weeks back, THEY KNEW as THEY got the lot fave got hammered by a ruffie when it led and not a word said in the stewards report or anything very very smelly but flew completely under the radar I got 1.45 for Fanning, not happy to take 1.40 as under the line IMO even for supposed "free money" as they say, there are no free lunches, just burgers with the lot |

slightly surprising that Ohoka Punter is fave for the Flying Stakes, guess as he's drawn to lead

By:
1.80 a place Ohoka Punter could be a house, wife and kids job
|
|
By:
SKY MAJOR has won two Harness Jewels on the track so he's 2/2, he will be storming home
LANCEWOOD LIZZIE also won the Jewels in 1:52:7 at her only start here, just need a little better than the 3.0 a place SMOLDA won his 2nd race start here after a very promising 3rd on debut, this is his first time back interestingly I remember that day well, Flying Stakes day 2011, couldn't believe he paid $2.50, **** in and stamped himself a star of the future not to mention Australasia's best ever 3yo AUCKLAND REACTOR won the big one!!! |
|
By:
well there you go, someone took a set against the last winner at Penrith
2.80 - 3.0ish fixed odds but laid for 1000's better than 5.0, including $2K @ 5.4 fantastic entertainment as usual at the fair watching the ecstasy and agony unfold |

sadly the Reactor was scratched from the Cup but the last three Flying Stakes winners all went on to win the big one
Terror To Love x2 and Adore Me last year (paid $11.70 NZ TAB as the 4th fave) |

By:
in the last AP - LADY ROYAL SUE fresh up and has been trialling nicely and is 61.0 fixed odds
took her in doubles, trebles and quaddies, have to have a nibble on that |
|
By:

|
|
By:

By:
at least the surfing is on after a three day wait

Cable Beach's win was franked by Superfecta winning at Addington, a horse who couldn't peg it back last week
super cool drive from Mark Purdon to get 1.30 fave home |
|
By:
a taste of whats to come from the All Stars over the next month = Mark Purdon four drives tonight...1st-2nd-1st-1st

very bad timing for Nat to get sidelined obviously
|

By:
could be one of those days, my big trial ruffie LAST, lost $5 on a surfing all-up
I'm ruined, cashies is so far away and I have no petrol cos it's about $2+ a litre do the Salvo's deliver?????? |
|
By:
can't see the scores at the surf comp because of "technical difficulties"
the surf is tiny any way, very worried about my bet on Mick Fanning as he's not an aerial trickster type micro wave surfer ![]() ![]() ![]() |
|
By:
bugger, the NZTAB put 2.20 up for Stent, missed it as didn't last long apparently, straight into 1.95
|
|
By:
Corzin Terror fave in the next at Melton is nominated for the big cup, would want to brain these.
Word on the street is he will have a few starts in NZ including the Auckland Cup, good luck! the world needs optimists |
|
By:
brain them he did, "a first over crush","a hand drive" as Barsby the American imitator would say
|
|
By:
talking of trials CONDRIEU the fave in the next in the west after this....
Won Byford 2150m mobile trial defeating Waylade by 2.1m in 1:58.5 (27.5, 27.7) watched the replay on Twitter, impressive |
|
By:
what does this have to do with NZ? it's mum OAXACA LASS NZ was awesome
|
|
By:
she actually won a Chariots of Fire, saw her win the Queensland Derby too
when they actually had a grandstand back in the day when I was a member but the mocker on Condrieu as it blew to bits |
|
By:
here are my opinions of the stand manners for the Flying Stakes runners
the poley is the only duffer, nearly all are reliable but any can have a bad day obviously of course it all has a bearing on the NZ Cup so notes will be taken 1 Lewy Risk 7-0-0 obviously not his go, missed away on the grass last start, nuisance value 2 Ohoka Punter 7-2-3 usually pings out, should lead, did miss away in an Easter Cup so not bomb proof 3 Choise Achiever 22-6-3 safe, usually begins well 4 Delightful Dash 8-1-4 safe 5 Smolda 8-3-3 safe 6 Lancewood Lizzie 5-2-3 can be a bit scratchy for the first step or two but can muster speed quickly 7 No Doctor Needed 7-1-3 not fool proof but can can ping out 8 Bit Of A Legend 13-3-4 safe 9 Mossdale Conner 18-5-4 another who's not fool proof but can begin well 10 Tiger Tara 8-4-2 although the numbers look good he can be a bit tardy, can get stirred up 11 Sky Major 3-0-1 muffed his 1st stand but is getting better with practice, being the only runner on the back row may help |

my army of fans finally got something back
1.45ish Mick Fanning looks like free money well done champ |
|
By:
my concern about the small conditions were unfounded, he would win in a bath tub!
|
|
By:
but spewing on Kolohe Andino as he went down by 0.16 which stuffed a few multi's
local boy Frederico Morais causes a major upset with a 9.43(out of 10.0) ride, bugger |
|
By:
what does this have to do with NZ Harness racing = NOTHING
just some interest bets and something to watch between races/study NZ does have a pro surfer Ricardo Christie but he's struggled in the big time he's paying 4.0 in a three horse race but is unders IMO |

ok back on topic.....cup hope Te Kawau
a big fan of this horse and thought he had a ruff chance in the cup as he's a promising stayer any way, backed him most starts, had a bit of a crack on him in the Methvern Cup Sunday just hasn't been himself and very disappointing 5th when he had every chance stable were a bit perplexed by his underperforming, needed a vet check, blood done etc. Well here's a new one, apparently he's been in the same paddock as his little brother. Well the little shizenhauser has been "picking on him" wtf a new way to do your dough HORSE WAS PICKED ON AND WAS STRESSED OUT!!! bugger me I thought a horse shying at camel crap on the track took the cake but now I know just like people some horses are bullies. So he's now sooked off to another paddock where he's free of the pest. Guess he's off the sacked list now. Maybe he needs a wee pony buddy or Blackie can loan him Simon. Back on track? we shall see. |
|
By:
side tracked to the surf again.....good, there is hope, alive in my last two multi's thanks to Kelly Slater

Not having Master Lavros up against Stent does take something away from the Flying Mile for Trotters
|
|
By:
Hey VK -- on the surfing ... Ace [ Adrian ] Buchan's Dad was my English teacher at school, and cricket coach for a few years -- he was a decent guy ;-)
|
|
By:
I thought I'd been screwed every way there was in racing. A horse being picked on takes the cake!!
|
|
By:
not surprised Trotman, I've never meet "Ace" but he interviews really well
and comes across as a decent/nice bloke, he may not be a "big name" surfer but he's always dangerous and deserves his place on the elite circuit the very average conditions in this comp caught me out, a big WIPE OUT have to regroup for the last comp of the year at Pipe, a real horses for courses track Philadelphia Man in the QPC = the layers knew, he's just a horse I can never back my first "vibe" was right, way too short from the wide gate |
|
By:
Henry Master Lavros does better against Stent the further they go
focusing on the Dominion Handicap seems a smart move as it normally is the 3yo Sires will be a highlight on NZ Cup day Lavarus is a serious horse, Purdon rates him ahead of Waikiki Beach in the 3yo division with the depth there is they will go ballistic like usual |
