Sacked Carlton defender Josh Bootsma set to sign up with West Coast Eagles. WA product Bootsma, 21, was sacked in June after being caught posting explicit photos on social media. He was sent packing by the Blues just days before his partner Kyla gave birth to the couple’s first child, daughter Indiana. Bootsma said he was a new man since becoming a father, having secured a full-time job with an appliance retailer and relaunched his career in the WAFL with Peel Thunder. “It’s a dream to hopefully one day play AFL again and whatever club that’s at, I’d be very thankful to them for drafting me again,’’ he said. |

Swans probably had decent room in their cap to get someone as well, with Malceski and O'Keefe gone and Goodes who will basically sign on for peanuts.

Agree I don't see how the AFL can legally do that as long as the Swans aren't breaching the salary cap the Swans should be able to tell the AFL to get stuffed.

the most logical theory i've heard is that Sydney was going to do a deal on a big name and the AFL didn't want to see that happen again so changed the rules

After what I heard tonight maybe getting Christensen to the Eagles isn't such a good idea after all so back to my original option of Travis Colyer at Essendon apparently if Hird stays there's going to be quite a few more players leaving very soon.
