The Premier Lara Giddings has defended her economic record amid concern Tasmania remains in recession.

* GDP per capita growth was 0.7pc significantly under the historic 2.48pc. Massive contraction.

* The construction performance index fell to 35.6 in February from 39.8 a month earlier. The sector continues to be in decline for 21 straight months.

* Australian PSI dropped 5.2 points in February to 46.7. Anything under 50 is considered recessionary. New orders showed a stunning decline and were at their lowest level in 12 months, with this particular component dropping a whopping 8.5 pts to 45.6.

* China lowered their growth forecast for 2012 by 0.5pc.

Almost 600 people will lose their jobs as electronics retailer WOW closes all of its 15 stores after receivers failed to find a buyer.

"Barry O'Farrell needs to intervene immediately to stop the loss of another 1500 construction jobs in NSW," Robertson said in a statement.
