1 vote is the only difference Jez, if Fran Bailey wasn't in hospital and voted for Turnbull as many say she would have we would have an ETS today

agreed Labor hasn't done enough yet but they'll do more and at least they are doing some means testing

this thread has been all over the shop not just on the carbon tax so why not

PS - I now what your types are after Wombleoz.

I used to work for Centrelink and a few other agencies.

No family tax benefits for families.  No assistance for middle Australia or those on the low-middle income scale.

Lets just pump the money into the generational Centrelink families.  You call them "poor and disfortunate".

A vicious cycle of dole money and social house, plus plus plus plus plus.

I agree with cutting the bloating of the FTB system and I'll admit my side has boosted this system, in some cases unneccesarily.  HOWEVER, and its a big HOWEVER.

I've seen the results of the Green philosophy, you know robin-hood like socialism and its a absolute and utter fkn failure.

It's about a handup not a handout - across the board - NOT just your focus on middle Australia who are WORKING AUSTRALIANS, thats are PAYING THERE TAXES.

Elite inner city latte sipping socialists such as yourself could do well in getting out there and seeing what its like in the real world.  Do some work with the homeless, visit some social housing estates and look at the family budgets of middle Australia.

yep, i'd abolish FTB - it doesn't make sense to churn tax into welfare and give it back to people, leave it in their pockets in the first place through tax cuts

generational welfare is a HUGE issue that needs to be looked at - Latham was a big mistake but he did have a good idea with placing role models into those families, they need examples to look up to and be motivated by

a young boy is talking with his father

dad, even though i understand there is an alternative thought by scientists, the prime minister still says co2 is to blame for the globe warming uncontrollably, or more recently saying it is now causing our climate to change, and this may lead to us not being able to grow any food in the coming years

yes she does say that, son, despite contrary scientific evidence & facts which don't actually support her contention

but dad, if she thinks she is right and she is bravely going to do something about co2, then she will fix this co2 problem for us, won't she ?

well, no son, she is not actually planning to fix a problem, she is just going to take extra money from us for us using it, and hope someone else will come along and spend their money to do something about it

but dad that doesn't make sense, if there is a real and genuine problem, why would she allow us to keep using it, and while taking extra money from us for it, when if it she believes it is evil shouldn't she stop us from using it, rather just profit from it

yes son, you would think so, but although she has agreed it is bad, she has decided to actually make her government a business partner with the companies supplying it, by profiting from it through a newly invented taxation, while not directly helping the environment to be rid of it at all

but dad, if none of what she is doing is to actually fix the problem, and she is just joining up with those very companies she says are to blame, so that she can extract extra revenue from it, just like they are, then all this seems like madness

yes son, it sure does

a young boy to his father - what if the scientists are right, wouldn't we better off trying to do something

spot on son, it'd be immoral not to
By:

When: 15 Mar 11 11:31
lol womble, but boy is still confused ...

but dad ...  what is this something you talk about ?????  ...  isn't that just anything ???  ... or in reality ... nothing !!!!

profiteering don't equal doing something ... in fact its the opposite ... and almost obscene (so hardly moral)
By:
wombleoz
When: 15 Mar 11 12:44
it's not about profiteering though, it's about applying a price trigger - in an ideal world, we'd fix it because we care - unfortunately in this world we have to fix it by putting a price on because most only care about money Sad

This is just another tax, thats the reality.

It does nothing for the environment.

The outcomes are weak, not guaranteed and extremely flimsy.

But wombleoz continues to talk about morality on climate change, as if a carbon tax is the only option.

Take off those ideology blinkers and look at doing something wombloez, but hey, here's an idea - how about something thats GUARANTEED to make a difference.

AND ITS NOT A TAX!

Your posts continue to prove that like JuLIAR and her government - you have know idea about the mechanics of this carbon tax - your just keep bleeting morality nonsense like as if it somehow justifies a scheme that is a fundamental trainwreck.

Anyone would swear, as an ideologue, that you just have your eye on the tax.  Wouldn't that be a surpriseLaugh  ffs

This is a tax that helps achieve the wombleoz dream.

Fkn slam the lives of middle Australia.

Take from the middle and funnel the cash to Centrelink recipients.

And like his idol, JuLIAR, when in doubt.

Just FKN LIE! [>o][>o][>o][>o]

What wombleoz won't accept, despite the polls, despite the Labor leadership tensions and jitters is that publicly, this debate is being lost by the government.

The public has grave doubts about this carbon tax and exactly what it will achieve.

As always, it appears wombleoz is in a minority.
By:
Jez Melb Punter

And one last point.

This compounds the ultimate betrayal and lie from JuLIAR.

There is no escaping this.  This is what she said days before the last election in 2010.

This is the LAST election, where Labor went to the election with NO CARBON TAX and the Coalition went to the election with its Direct Action Plan.

To TRY AND SUGGEST in utter and pure desperation that the 2007 Howard Campaign took an ETS to an election - therefore the Coalition wanted an ETS in 2010 is absolute diatribe.

JuLIAR told a massive lie and betrayed the electorate.

And she tries to suggest that because Labor didn't win the election, but formed minority government thats a mandate for a LIE.

Laugh

Labor is out of touch and to be frank, a fkn mess.
More Labor.  More waste, more debt, more taxes. Cry

well there's a surprise, 4 new posts on the thread but all from Jez Cry

i made a mistake saying the last election, i meant 2007 - i note you didn't address the fact that if Fran Bailey wasn't in hospital we would have an ETS now

a price trigger is the most effective way of getting action, no idea why you are raving on about Centrelink recipients though, sure i want to see them compensated because they are the ones that can least afford it = do you think pensioners shouldn't be compensated???

2.5 years until the next election - plenty of time to sell the carbon tax IMO

????????????????????????????????? i havent seen a denial so it must be true

obvious you are clearly 100% against families, i mean any gain from the bloat that occurred has clearly all gone thanks to years of labor state mismanagement, water electricity fuel etc etc, you are clearly in the minority womble, one day you will wake up

How can the statement "There will be no Carbon Tax under any Gov't I Lead" be a lie.....If

1) She believed it when she said it, and it was said without the intention to decieve.

2) She is leading the current Gov't and we DO NOT HAVE A CARBON TAX. (SO HER STATEMENT IS STILL CORRECT)

IT IS NOT A LIE BECAUSE THE STATEMENT IS STILL CORRECT.
