It's big on rhetoric and bad on delivery.

The laptops in schools program is expected to blow-oout until 2013;

•State governments revolted over the fact that there was no consideration in the original budget for installation, maintenance and running costs of computers. This lead to a $1.2 billion taxpayer funded blow out.

•Parents are being charged with additional costs to take laptops home despite the Prime Minister claiming that this shouldn't happen.

•The last round of Senate Estimates revealed that only 154,000 of the promised 1,000,000 computers are actually functioning in schools.

•It has been plagued by criticism from educational experts about the possible detrimental impact on learning that heavy reliance on computers in classrooms can cause.

•It was revealed that no cost/benefit analysis was ever conducted.

Remember the shots fired at John Howard during the 2007 campaign regarding government advertising?

Kevin Rudd described it as a "cancer on democracy" and that it wouldn't happen under Rudd Labor "absolutely" and that the Australian people can keep him to "account on that one".

The buck stops with me, he said in 2007.



Now we have Rudd Labor putting aside close to $40 million in the budget dedicated to "national emergency" whilst sneakily planning a panicked ad blitz on its new planned great big mining tax - and this was weeks and weeks ago - well before the mining industry knew of the tax, littlelone launched an ad campaign.

Devious, sneaky, deceitful Rudd Labor.

The last week has seen Rudd Labor's true colours shine brightly - last week in particular for the PM he misled parliament - blatently.

He states in parliament:  Mr Rudd  : "Let us go to the facts of this matter. Share prices around the world have fallen because of the crisis in Greece and the honourable Leader of the Opposition would know that. Secondly, within mining itself he is yet to adduce any data to support the proposition. So on proposition No 1 about the dollar, on proposition No 2 about the share price, on proposition No 3 about employment: wrong, wrong, wrong, against all the factual data."

The following day, Labor Minister Joe Ludwig releases a statement regarding the governments exemption from its own advertising rules & its new panicked ad blitz on mining: "I have also accepted the Treasurer's advice that, as the tax reforms involve changes to the value of some capital assets, they impact on financial markets."

Oh the deceit, the lies & incompetence and its only been 2 and half years - its no wonder ALP strategists are concerned - this government is in big trouble.

P.S - Rudd's dishonesty to parliament came from a question from Mr Abbott regarding the great big tax on mining and the Coalitions view that it will cause "the collapsing dollar, the falling stockmarket, the suspension of projects and the evaporation of jobs".

But, why is it the 2007 election promises and commitments have been removed/deleted from the Labor Party's website?



Many have been axed, plenty have been shambolic in attempted implementation & a bucketload are big dollar blowouts and are a long shot of being met.

The DER website states that "the Australian government does not support the use of a fee, levy, co-contribution or bond arrangement to be paid by parents or carers to schools for a DER-funded computer."

Victorian's Education Department said yesterday it was "working with the school" to ensure that it had complied with federal funding rules

School principal Leon Bishop yesterday said he would work closely with the federal and state governments to "ensure we have complied with the program".

But he said the computers that were subject to a levy were in addition to the desktops and laptops purchased using federal funds.

"Our program this year is not related to the Rudd funding at all," he said.

A charity has stepped in to pay the "computer levy" for four low-income students attending Lilydale High School, a working-class suburb on Melbourne's eastern fringe.

I feel really sorry for the labour party. I think they have done some really good things and have some very talented people such as Gillard, Swan, Tanner etc. The problem is they have a leader who is a complete fake and a control freak ego maniac. As i said before I voted for labour at the last election but I was fooled. rudd is the worst Prime Minister in Australias history.

Its all falling apart for labor. In QLD a whopping 69% DISapprove of Anna Bligh, the premier.They can't win an election with that unpopular a leader.The false promises, economic mismanagement and total disregard to the future  are sealing labor's fate in this country.
  Did you see dudd being interviewed after his disaster poll was released?.The cockiness is almost gone as the realisation that his goose is cooked and he will go down as the worst PM for some time.
  The resources tax was one of the dumbest moves seen in australian politics for sometime.

If Queensland does not want to abide by Legislation made for all Australians to benefit, pisss of and start your own country, only thing they will make their money on then will be Mining and exporting frogs legs to France.  Mining looks good for another 20 years and at present Mining companies are only paying 12 cents in the dollar tax, how could Mining Bosses be so greedy.?  I say pay your share of tax like all Australians or take your shovels to China and dig there.
