The £1Million Challenge
Hi,

well I wish I hadn't had an extra couple of bets yesterday as they soaked up my excellent profit from my Football bet on the Lincoln and Accrington Draw at 9/4. I backed ARSENAL to win v Sunderland (0-0) and also had DESERT CRY - 2nd to a 20/1 shot in the 3.40 at KELSO. Drat!

Today I have awoken a sleeping giant! I mentioned recently that I once had 100 consecutive winning bets. How did I do it? Well I used a STOP AT A WINNER system. This is basically 'Hedging your bets' and the problem with it is that you generally have to spend about ten times the amount you want to win. Nevertheless if you are careful in the selection of the bet re 'probability' etc then you usually win.

Today I have backed the first five favourites at HUNTINGDON. I named the horses and took the prices with a 'Best Odds Guaranteed' bookmaker. Stakes to win per £5 were £4, £4.50, £6.00, £6.50 & £36. Total = £57 which is a total risk of 4.7% of my bank. You can also 'play' this system on Betfair of course but you have to put the bets on race by race and stop when you hit a winner. In the last race of my first five, the 4.10, Number 7 QALINAS is a red hot favourite at 8/11, hence the hefty stake required on that one relative to the others. Hopefully I will have a win with this system today.

I have also covered CATCH BOB and LIGHTENING ROD in the 2.50 at SEDGEFIELD for £10 on each plus a £12 PLACE bet on BALLEYVESEY in the 3.40 at Huntingdon in the hope that the RacingPost 'Trading Post' and the RacingUK Icard Predictor have got it right. They go for 1st but I think a PLACE bet here for evens is the safest option.

Have to dash - see you later.

Two Kisses For Me!

04 Mar 11 13:34
Week so far = + £28.33/£31.67 to go for this week.

Hi,

When there is a short priced odds-on favourite you can often get better value on the second favourite for a PLACE bet. In the 2.20 at Newbury MOOSE MORAN has been smashed into and is currently about 1/2 odds on. AP McCoy is on the second favourite TWO KISSES who looks good for a PLACE today and to me this horse represents the better value bet. I just staked 2% (£24 relative to my bank) on TWO KISSES for a Place at 1.56. I am much happier playing for 1st, 2nd or 3rd than odds on for 1st only in a nine runner race.

My little horse racing system has selected OUR FATHER in the 2.55 at NEWBURY as a good Win Prospect today and I staked 1% on the horse at 7/4, 2.74, earlier.

I have also staked 5% in total on a Football result this weekend. On Saturday in the NPower League Division Two Lincoln City are at Home to Accrington Stanley. I have staked £34 at 7/4 on LINCOLN CITY to win the match and also £27 at 9/4 on the DRAW. Either result would make a good net profit for me. The Football system I am using has a very high strike rate and gives me the assurance that if I do lose this weekend I can look forward to recovering my stake very quickly.

Bye for now.

Going For A Double Tonight

02 Mar 11 11:35
This Week so far + £15.45

Hi,

well I made virtually nothing from my trade last night - just a couple of quid! Usually you get a bigger movement in the odds for the Draw when a goal is scored but all I could make out of it was a lousy £2. Hardly worth the £60 risk! That's why I'm not 'keen' on trading - you have to 'sweat' to get your result and sometimes the risk to gain ratio is pitiful.Still it was a good match to watch though.

Today I am going for an old fashioned no frills Win Double pure and simple ARSENAL and MAN CITY to Win their respective matches. I got 1.15 & 1.66 Double odds and my stake of £14 will net me +£12.88 if successful.

ARSENAL must surely do the business tonight mustn't they? MAN CITY will have a tougher time against  ASTON VILLA though and if I'm gonna lose it will be because of this match I should think. Still my risk to gain ratio is a very reasonable c.1/1 and I won't be banging the floor if I lose!

See you tomorrow.

CHELSEA v MAN UTD Trade

01 Mar 11 16:57
Hi,

Nothin' doin' on the horse racing front for me today, although I'm pretty sure I'll have a couple of winning bets tomorrow. So I'm going to have an interest in the CHELSEA v MAN UTD match tonight.

Yesterday, I mentioned that I do 'Trade' occasionally and tonight is one of those occasions. I am hopeful of a goal being scored so I have Layed the Draw for a stake of £25 at 3.4, giving me a Liability of £60, which is 5% of the bank.

I will then Back the Draw to close my liability when a goal is scored to lock in a profit. That's the theory anyway. If it's a 'Bore Draw' I will close my liability in the 76th minute and have to take a 'Hit' so I am hoping for a goal to be scored by then!

Only two Buds left in the fridge, better get some more in. T.T.F.N.

Opportunity Knocks

28 Feb 11 13:49
I bow to the greater knowledge of others in many respects as I happily acknowledge their expertise. I just spotted on the Blog of ZEROHYPE his advice about a Trade on the STOKE v WEST BROM match tonight, kick-off at 8pm.

I do 'Trade' myself when the fancy takes me and I have the time, but I prefer to just put a bet on and have done with it if I can. So I have noted the advice of ZEROHYPE and used a slightly different betting strategy in the hope that the match does indeed finish in a Win for STOKE or a DRAW. I have staked £24 on STOKE to Win at 1.94 and £9.50 on the DRAW at 3.55.

If STOKE win I make a net + £13 and if its a DRAW I break even. If West Brom win I lose £33.50. Oh well in for a penny in for £33.50!

Better Luck This Week?

28 Feb 11 11:23
Start bank £1,000
Current bank £1,194.75

Hi,
well I have made 19.4% in the last month, which isn't bad but it could have been much better were it not for several 'shock' results. My win target this week is £60.

I have invested in two horses in the same race today. In the 2.50 at Plumpton I staked 1% (£12) on Number 1 'EVELLA' at 2.04 and the same on Number 2 'ASTURIENNE' at 3.15 . It is 6/1 bar those two in this five runner race and I am hoping that the second favourite wins for the profit, as if the favourite wins I will just break even. Of course one of the others such as GAN ON could spoil the party but I have a reasonable prospect of success. My total risk here is 2%

See you later

Hi,

I managed to break even yesterday due to my 'saver' bets on the WALSALL v ROCHDALE match where I backed the WIN and the DRAW. Last week I mentioned that Bet 365 have a very generous policy of returning all losing correct score bets when a match finishes 0-0 and true to their word they refunded my £15 stake on the Millwall v  Nottm Forest 0-0 'Bore Draw. So it's worth opening up an account with them even if you only use it for correct score football bets.

Today I have gone for the 'Blindingly Obvious?' and backed ARSENAL, MAN CITY and RANGERS to win their matches. I am still looking to apply a bit of leverage on my bets, so I put them all in a £25 win Treble which would return £67 if it comes in. I put the question mark there because we all know about 'shock results' in football, so I am hoping that they can all justify their short odds today.

Must get my beers in for the Cup Final. See you later.

Saturday Value?

26 Feb 11 14:14
Hi,

a bit late getting my message on today but still in time to share some bets with you. I have mentioned correct score football bets as an excellent way to leverage your returns and I have already had some good results this week and I am hoping for some more today.

I have backed NEWCASTLE to win against Bolton, MILLWALL to win against Nottingham Forest and TRANMERE to win against Yeovil, all at 1-0, 2-0, 2-1. My stakes were £5 on each for a total of £45. The odds on these range from 6/1 to 10/1 so if I get just two out of three I will make a good profit.

The RacingPost on Friday provides all the stats you need to find good propsects for these bets as it shows the scores for these matches in previous seasons, which is no guarantee for success of course but I find it to be a useful guide.

I also recently sent off my money for a little football system which has proven to be very profitable and the selection for that one today is WALSALL against ROCHDALE where i have backed Walsall to win the match and also the DRAW. Hopefully I will get a good return today.

I will update re' my weeks progress on Monday.

A No Lose Situation?

24 Feb 11 13:32
Hi,

an excellent result yesterday with ARSENAL winning 1-0 on my correct score bet. I have something to share with you today.

I don't believe in keeping all my eggs in one basket and I naturally have several bookmaker accounts and I think you should know about BET365 regarding correct score Football Betting if you don't know already. Don't get me wrong I love my Betfair account as you definitely get better odds, however I also had some correct score bets on MAN UTD to beat MARSEILLE yesterday on my Bet365 account.

Here's the thing, '365' have a 'Bore Draw' policy where they actually refund all losing correct score bets if the result is 0-0! I had covered a 1-1 Draw and Man Utd to win 1-0, 2-0, 2-1 plus a covering bet on MARSEILLE to Win, so I had virtually all angles covered. OK I didn't get a 'result' with the 'Bore Draw and in fact I lost my small covering stake on Marseille to win, but I had all the stakes on all the correct score bets returned, fantastic!

Just thought I'd share that little bit of info with you today.

This evening I have had four correct score bets on LIVERPOOL to win v Sparta Prague, AJAX to win v Anderlecht and MAN CITY to win v Aris Salonika. All for 1-0, 2-0, 2-1, & 3-1 on each match and I am hoping to make an overall profit on the day if there are no 'upsets'.

Hi,

Today I am going for enhanced returns on my bet on Arsenal to win their match against Stoke this evening. Arsenal are very short at roughly 1/3 but I have staked £60 on them in the hope that they can justify the odds. Plus I have staked £5 on the following correct scores: 1-0, 2-0, 2-1, 3-1. If I don't get a correct score but Arsenal win I'll break even. If I do get a correct score then obviously that'll enhance my returns. I got 7.4, 6.8, 10.5, & 15.0 respectively. The other day I had a very nice return on Ajax winning 1-0 at odds of 15/1 so it is very nice when you get one of the bigger odds results coming in and I'll be hoping for that 3-1 result tonight.

Worst case scenario it's a Draw or Stoke win for an £80 loss! Fingers crossed.

Bye for now.
