We've plenty of ground to make up, so I'm going to take a chance EW on one at a big price (currently 50-1), Dionysian, 2.05 Goodwood.

Dionysian could only finish 12th of 15 on his reappearance in a handicap at the Craven meeting (one mile, g-s), but that doesn't tell the full story as having not been best away, he was soon racing keenly on the pace into a headwind in a race that set up for the closers, and in the circumstances didn't shape too badly in holding on to the lead until under two furlongs out before fading out of it. He looks a sizable sort so that pipe-opener may have advanced his fitness.

The concern today is the drop back to 7f on quicker ground from a wide draw, particularly as he's out of a Galileo mare, actually made his debut over 9f as a 2YO, and is a full-brother to a 10f Group 3 winner in Meydan, but on the plus side, he is by speed influence Exceed And Excel, and given his exuberance at Newmarket, this drop in trip looks worth a go.

He is very weak in the betting this morning, so perhaps there is another target further down the line for him, but this is a valuable prize so hopefully he can at least press for a place granted a reasonable trip.

Excellent selections and VWD, a decent afternoon for the team.

Werbie got the ball rolling with a 9/2 winner, Shane followed up with a superb 12/1 EW and Mr 'Consistent' Spreadsheet finished off with a 4/1 on the nose. Unlucky to others. Mine lost on a head bob, annoying as the almost 27 points would have given up top spot and put us 8 clear in the table. That's racing, but fair play to Undecided with his winner that did us on the line.
