Competitive to the last, but in the end not much change. This has been a terrific month for top-table knockabout, with the lead regularly changing hands at one stage, and it continued into the final day as our leaders jostled for top spot and promotion.
It's certainly not often you see the top two both 5/1 winners on the final day. gazza66 confirmed his supremacy with Coroebus to leave him with a profit of nearly £17. That's his fifth winner on the bounce and overall a magnificent strike rate of nearly 57%. There were no blockbusters; he just kept them coming thick and fast, with one mid-month stretch of eight straight winners. Fantasticolio!
His win today was matched by our number two, timberman, one of our latest recruits. He bagged Donkey Years to edge up to the silver spot. He has actually been the steadiest winner of the month with the top strike rate of 57.1%. See, it can be done. Ekselento!
Downgraded to third was Theresa Croude, who scored a blank today. But it was a splendid effort over the month that got her upstairs. Luvvit!
Well done too to motseel, an odds-on winner today, who took fourth,
and Treesome, winless today but clinging on to the final promotion spot, just keeping out our good friend snippy.
What you might notice is that it was little and often wot wunnit for our promoted napsters - top four with strike rates of more than 45%, three of them more than 50%. In fact there was only one basherooni all month, a 22/1 from Longshot Louie. Sadly, it was his only score, which is why he's not even close to the transportation zone.
An intriguing month, even if the profits were more modest than some. I enjoyed it anyway.
Hard luck those still stuck with us but nil desperandum. There's always a bright shiny new month to make a difference. Thanks to everyone for taking part and hope to see you all again in May. And thanks for your messages.
