Very much tempted to put up Serious Ego in the first race at Hexham. his second here on the 17th Nov was well franked when the winner Romeo Brown romped home in the £30k final at Kelso on Saturday. Serious Ego was conceding 20lb that day so his running on second, albeit beaten a fair distance was very commendable.
The forecast price is fair at 11/2 and the only thing puting me off is one a bit lower in the weights Cup of Coffee. If her win beating Rainyday Woman at Ludlow at level weights is to believed we are in trouble as Rainyday Woman is now rated 125. Will certainly be backing SE to win and save my stake on CoC. Will mull things over a bit more before deciding. |

Should have added that SG has an entry in a better race at the Ayr National meeting which further tempts me.

Adam Wedge just gone all that way for the one ride on Cup of Coffee.
Discretion wins. |

I notice Dan Skelton has over 20 horses entered up at Ayr for the two day National meeting and I will be having a good look at the ones he runs. However, of more importance is one of a pair he runs today at Market Rasen. ASHOKA must hve had a few problems because he was off for more than 12 months before coming back for 3 hurdle run outs this season. For those runs his hurdle rating as dropped from 115 to 101 today. When you think he was running in chases off marks in the 130s 101 is an eye watering mark. I like backing DS horses after they have been given a pop round by Bridget Andrews and this one had just that over this c&d in December. Kept 4 or 5 wide the whole way round (not a good ideear at MR), she tried to make up ground wide off the last turn, again conceding many lenngths so lost ground on the main protagonists and came home beaten over 20 lengthf. He is much better than that and with DS back up I have had a bit on at 20/1 and he will be my 10 points win bet today.
Hoping it is a going day and get a decent run. |

gl Barstool bit of money around at big prices for this one - which is a good sign from Skelton yard imo their drifter run as bad as Henderson ones
|
|
By:
Thanks NEC. Just checked the exchange price and seen it has been nibbled to 15s now. As you suggest let us hope it is a good sign.

Good write up Barstool, what we like to see, gl at 20/1 or 14/1 I'd probably play EW if I put it up as we are a fair way ahead but your choice entirely, great if it wins.

Wow absolute class, vwd Barstool you certainly sorted that one out.

Was quite tempted to put one up at Naas in the 3 05 to oppose the Even money fav Goven, but as only 6 runners and 2 places will decline to select for the thread.
Given has good solid form but has only raced on soft, heavy ground, have looked at his close relatives and all their best form was on soft ground, nothing to say he won't act on better ground but may not. The trainer of the 2nd fav Gatsby Grey Ollie Mckiernan has his string in a rich vein of form and this horse should go well but again doesn't have any form on better ground. Horse I considered is Brendan Dukes' ex Bolger flat horse Bold Approach, Duke doesn't have many winners over the jumps and his conditional jockey hasn't ridden a winner either, but he gets 8lb from Goven as well as his 7lb allowance. Horse had no chance against a hot pot lto, who ran 3rd at Cheltenham but this looks easier. What this horse does have is good form on better ground, if it was 1st 3, I'd have gone EW with it but will wait for something else. |

By:
Ran well, just weakened before last, the red hot trainer won easily, good job I waited.

By:
Need all your ducks in a row at this game stewarts. Good call.
What was to have been my selection this week is declared to run tomorrow, trainer had two entered but has plumped for this so gives me a bit more confidence. |
|
By:
Just had a score on Elvis Mail at 11s on here.
Good Luck at Ayr over the next couple of days. Not a lot of runners tomorrow but competitive racing nonetheless. |
|
By:
Don't usually have much luck north of the border so don't bet at Ayr much, had a quick look at your selection, can't really see why you'd fancy it, mixing hurdling with chasing, what's your reasoning Barstool?
|
|
By:
into 9/2 on here so well fancied, stable do well at Ayr
first run since wind op and tongue tie applied interesting runner but might be best at minimum and hurdles but Barstool knows his jumpers so would not discount at all gl with bet Barstool |

Fell two out at Aintree behind Shiskin and Funanbule Sivola off 146, by no stretch of the imagination would it have won, but would not have been disgraced. Runs off 141 today, in less refined company.
Had been progressing well over fences to that point and imy view is a 150+ chaser. It has not been knocked about in its few hurdle runs this season and I am hoping they have preversed it's chase mark for a spring campaign. I think the step up in trip will help too. Might be totally wrong of course, but you pays your money and take your chance. On at 10/1 last night, 9/2 now. Good luck stewarts. |
|
By:
Yes, we'll you've btn the market in any case, gl Barstool having missed the nice prices I'll just watch and cheer you on.

Tempted with another today but again just 6 runners. Massive fan of Straw Fan Jack who ran a blinder over C/D lto btn on nod after being in front 2 throughout, had the hold up horses in behind well btn off, 1lb better with Black Poppy today so could go either way between them again and has to give nearly 2 stone to Nicholls 4 yo novice who in turn is 10lb worse off with G Moores runner, if was 1st 3 would have gone EW, Sheila Lewis the hairdresser has her horses running better now after a slow start with 2 winners in March, don't think he'll be far away.
