Last day of the month so final day rules in force......

- All selections must be posted prior to the official start time of the first qualifying race of the day (1hr rule still applies).
- No duplicate selections allowed.
- No reserves or unnamed horses allowed.
- No 'Rest Day' allowance: those who don't post will automatically lose a point.
- Once posted, a selection may only be changed if it becomes a non-runner and as long as the above rules are still met.

***** Cutoff time is therefore 1.00pm *****

GLASGOWCALLING built on yesterday's winner with a 6/5 chance to emerge from the relegation zone. It's still very close though, a gap of 0.68 but it could well make all the difference.

Well done GC and best of luck to all on the final day. Please watch out for duplicate selections and remember to post selections before 1300 hours or midday if your selection runs in the 1.00 race.

Thank you,but I think there needs to be a rule about e-mails on the final day. Like ban them till 5 mins before cut-off time. If this does happen to win I really would like to edge Optimise out of a promotion place.

Hi Swift - i notice salmon spray has complained about my emailed selection to you for tomorrow.

Could you please point out to him that my selection was emailed to you after the final day thread had gone up and if it had been that someone else had posted onto the thread before my selection was picked up with the same horse then i would have had to take it on the chin and picked again - which by the way has happened to me and other posters on many occasions .

You settlers have a tough old job to keep everyone happy so here's a suggestion - why not put up the final day thread at around lunchtime on the day before then people can post in plenty of time to keep everyone happy - i do appreciate that some may say that then people could possibly post on the wrong thread but it would be entirely their own responsibility.

As i've said it works both ways for posters that cant or wont post on the forum in that they lose out if someone posts the same selection but in this case i cant see there being any problem with my email as the final day thread was up a fair while before my post was added.

Thanks again for all your hard work that these moaners and groaners dont seem to appreciate in what is meant to be a fun competition after all

Imlac wrote an automated routine to transfer the contents of mails using the Division tag which I have been pleased to use. That's the reason his username appears at the top of mailed in selections.

Hi salmon spray, no I am not optimize. I have written a little outlook macro that automatically reposts email selections on competition threads if it finds an accepted Division name in the title of the email. At the moment it's just set up for the top 2 divisions. It does mean that the macro has to post under my name because I don't know anybody else's sign in details! Unfortunately it's not clever enough to distinguish between a selection name and a private note. If you want to send a private note to a settler, just don't put the division name in the title. Mark it for the settler's attention.

swift-tuttle Thank you for managing the division. I do enjoy pitting my sections against others and analysing results for trends to help with my betting.

I have an idea to simplify re final day selections. If that subject does become under consideration maybe setup a separate thread for ideas to be discussed?

I would agree with that Storm Alert.
I must admit optimize is right in this case that he did time his e-mail for after the thread went up,but I am a bit heated on this subject as I was relegated because of another poster e-mailing BEFORE the thread was put up a month or two back.
I would prefer people to actually have to post but I appreciate that there are some who can't. I don't think they should reap an advantage though.
Thanks to lmlac and s-t for clearing up my confusion. Ultimately of course everything has to be up to the settlers who do a magnificent job.
