That said, I see no problem because there are still about 10 regulars not checked in and I will probably have to start giving newcomers preference going into next week to try and make sure we start with full teams.

Well the basics are that you as an individual make one win or ew selection per week for your team. You can do that any time Sunday to Saturday, but there is a 3pm posting cut-off on Saturdays.
You cannot pick the same selection as any team mate, nor your opponents that week.
I have posted some example score tables on this thread just to give a flavour of how it works.
