Caused a lot of trouble for the USA, i take it they intervened because they were commies.

Watched lots of Border town in between shifts at work. So, racing to return on June 1st, seems about right to me.

I have lots of fond memories of away games in Lancashire. Usually drove from Sheffield through Glossop. Onto Wigan, Oldham , Bolton, Man City.
Then stop at Glossop on way back for the Boddingtons,

They intervened because of the concept of the 'Domino Effect' , country after country falling to communism in Asia.
It was a spellbinding quality documentary.
I too drank Boddies , they took over OB (Oldham Brewery).

Had an interview at their Strangeway base , package included beer vouchers , they had a pub at the front gate.

Not much to report...dog, garden, allotment - normal everyday tasks.
Watched Luton 2 Man Utd 1 from 1985 on the official website.
Very windy here Sunday/Monday.
Watched Argo...OK.

Listened to my Spotify Tom Waits Ballards playlist twice - 128 songs and a bit over 8 hours play time - the man is a genius.
Wonderful songs such as Jersey Girl, Wherever I Lay My Head, The Piano Has Been Drinking (Not Me), Downtown Train, Hold On, Innocent When You Dream, Cold Water, Come On Up To The House, The House Where Nobody Lives, You Can Never Hold Back Spring, Bottom Of The World and the absolute classic that is I Hope That I Don't Fall In Love With You. Brilliant!!!

Still no closed track, socially distanced racing!
But hey! We can all cram onto the tubes and trains and travel to enclosed spaces to spread the virus far and wide so long as we are going to work, which is of course so much more important than anyone's life.

At least I'm allowed to go fishing from tomorrowShockedHappy

Recall Argo , thought it was a very dull telling of a fascinating story ......yet another best film Oscar turkey.
Had a frost this morning , but most of crops look ok.
I have been listening to Now 3 , issued on vinyl recently and the Bowie Conversation Pieces box set.

Blackley football League was ran from strangeways, unbelievably if you faced a dicaplinary matter that’s where you had to go and sit in front of the committee.

Great stuff Foxy .

My uncle owned a nightclub in Hollinwood in the 70's , his older brother owned it in the 60's , one of the first outside Manchester.

Hard to believe nowadays but I worked there in the evening till 2 am ......when I was 13 .Cool

Nowadays they start going out at 2 am.

I now drink boddingtons which is not easy to find anymore only 3 pubs in the city centre sell it ,1 in Failsworth,1 in uppermill and 1 in Royston ,far to many sell John smiths.

Sam Smiths mild is my tipple ....Yorkshire's oldest independent Brewery , their Tadcaster neighbour was bought out many years ago.

Sam's pubs have no music , no tv .....just great beer , dart board and people chatting.

Ah yes , people look in disbelief when Oldham mentioned as Premier League founder members.
We bought Norwegian international full back Gunnar Halle to replace Dennis Irwin who had gone to United.
I think he was one of 11 not UK or Irish footballers in the Premier League.

When we were promoted to the first division you look forward to the big games..... our first 3 fixtures were

Liverpool away L 1-2
Chelsea home W 3-0
United away L 2-3
By:

When: 14 May 20 21:52
I think sir Alex considers Irwin his best sighning,I would say the Great Dane.
By:

When: 15 May 20 08:18
Dennis Irwin was something special , how he was release by Leeds I will never know.
He played for us for 4 years and the only time I ever recall a winger giving him a bad time was Chris Waddle for Spurs in a cup tie......and there is no shame on that .

In terms of how good he was , lots of United fans still don't realise he was a right back, he never played left back for us.
He played left back because their other full back could not .
He spent a decade on the wrong side ........name me many other full backs who could do that.
By:

When: 15 May 20 09:42
I remember that he was rightfooted. A truly great player that was very underestimated imo.

It was for only one season but James Justin is a right back who had to play left back for Luton in 2018/19 promotion season before we sold him to Leicester last summer for £8m. Sad
Couldn't get a game at RB in front of Jack Stacey (who we also sold, to Bournemouth for £4m at the same time. Sad
In fact, he only got called into the first team when regular LB Dan Potts got injured.

How I wish we still had them both. SadSadSad

Gonna cut my privet hedge today then have a socially distanced drink over the garden fence with neighbour this afternoon again.

Still playing Tom Waits ballads over and over.
Time I moved onto some Lynyrd Skynyrd I think, whom I was lucky enough to see in London in Jan '77 (Odeon or Rainbow? - programme's up in the loft) before before they crashed and burned in the October. CryCryCry
I remember they were supported by a band called Clover who went on the become Huey Lewis And The News!

Watched The Head Hunter last night....OK but very predictable from about halfway through.
Also watched Treasure Planet - yes, the Disney film! - one of my favourite animated films.

When The Old Grey Whistle Test finished , viewers were asked which song to finish the final episode .....they choose Freebird.

Finished watching Brassic , enjoyed it very much.

My potato plants looks miserable after 3 nights of frosts.

Been listening to Tromple Le Monde by Pixies(my fav ever band) , Closer (Joy Division) and Carpenters Greatest Hits ......I live punk , indie , metal .....and the voice of Ms Karen Carpenter.

Goodbye To Love contains my fav ever guitar solo...so melancholy, poignant and so beautifully fits the song.

Liked Joy Division a lot and Closer is a great film.
Age Of Consent and Ceremony by New Order even better songs I reckon (Galaxie 500 do a fine version of the latter).

Pixies Here Comes Your Man is on one of my Spotify favs playlists. Should've (but haven't) listened to them more closely...Cannonball by The Breeders is an excellent song that I have on the same playist.

Female vocalists: Joan Armatrading has always been my fav, also love Annie Lennox, Martina McBride, Faith Hill, Chrissie Hynde, Martha Davis (The Motels).
Best ever female singing performance (lyrics) - Brandi Carlile: The Story, then Yvonne Fair: It Should've Been Me.
Best ever female vocal performance - Claire Torry: The Great Gig In The Sky on DSOTM - spine tinglingly good!

My potatoes in 10 litre pots in garden (set early January in greenhouse but put outside a couple of weeks ago) have been ok during the last few days but my allotment ones, which are only 1/2 mile away, have been totally fried!!!
Normally they will come back (hopefully!) but they will be later and lower yields.

Now about to watch the LTFC 1990/91 review on the club website, where we escaped relegation on the last game of the season for the third year in a row I think...and also the final time.
By:

When: 15 May 20 21:08
Jeez...titally forgot we won the Guinness Super Six that season, beating Liverpool 4 - 0 in the final!!
The only highlight of a defining season.
By:

When: 15 May 20 22:23
Yes...and we lost at Notts County the final game of the next season when a lat game victory would have kept us up again for the fourth season in a row.
Supporting LTFC is never boring.
And so....just like Liverpool, we have never won the Premier League.
Although we do have the excuse of never having played in it!
Night all.

Cycling up some steep hills this morning , in the wrong gear to make it even harder ......made me feel good knowing I could still do it... being very old but with the thighs of an Olympic sprinter. Cool
Tennis with my 21 year old son tomorrow , can't wait..... he does live in my house , completed his 4 years Physics degree yesterday ......what does the world hold for people like him now ?

Watching Dortmund go 2-0 up playing in either a bathroom or swimming pool.

Had 70 pears from my tree last year , but not many fruits on it this year.
Lots of fruit bushes that look covered in buds .....never labelled them , so no idea what they will produce.Grin

Started watching Black Book last night , never saw it when it was on , very Father Ted / IT Crowd not surprisingly with the same writer.
I have worked in IT for 37 years and love the IT Crowd.

Her asthma played up yesterday , cycling in the cold weather.

Went to a garden centreLove

The roads were busier than a week day.

Rewatching Underbelly , never come across an Aussie drama anywhere close as good to it.

Name Of The Rose ,the film is good ....recall the tv series , but don't recall what I thought of it.

Thanks Shane.

From a personal point of view , not being able to see my son graduate fills me with such sadness and misery.

Irrelevant as it may be to people losing their lives and livelihood , this is the worst impact on myself at this time .

I can also understand your disappointment 626, watching them graduate is a very proud day and I'm lucky enough that all my three did LoveLoveLove.

Planted out all my runners, climbing french, dwarf french, courgettes and sweetcorn today.
Onions looking good. Picked a second meal of broad beans and a a umpteenth crop of asparagus.
Carrots look really poor germination rate - think I need to re-sow most varieties.

Desperate for some racing....can't bring myself to study the french stuff.

Got up pretty early - dog wanted to go out - watched Disney's Black Cauldron - awful! - then ended up watching Escape From Sobibor (2018, not the older R Hauer version) which was quite good.
Went to a garden centre!!!   Bereft of any annuals but got the bark and pea gravel that I went for.
Bought a nice dwarf conifer for my front garden and wife bought a nice heuchera for the back. Resisted buying any more clematis.
Made some more obelisks for my clematis. Didn't play any music at all.
Watched The A Word.

That was grand Cool

The roads are absolutely rammed  , this is the most bizarre version of supposed lockdown.

It looks like people 'furloughed' and a lot of people who are supposedly working from home are actually out driving to goodness knows where all day.
