I can't make up my mind if madhatter wants to stay or go. I can imagine him prowling round his garret singing the song (www.youtube.com/watch?v=GqH21LEmfbQ). He keeps saying he can't bear to leave us, which is indeed extremely heartwarming. But then he keeps winning. Indeed, he was today's only winner, with a 7/4 number - his eighth in the last 11 - that nudges him up a spot to seventh. Okay, he still has a bit of a hill to climb on the final day, but he's clearly got the wind in his sails. Naturally Mr Mad, I would be distraught if you left us, but the sporting side of me says that if anyone deserves their place in the sun it is you, so best of luck!

Hard luck to the others who had a go today. If Andrew In Sweden is to be believed he had the biggest hard luck story of the day, but I'm not convinced. 'So near, yet so far' he lamented. I think the emphasis there should be on the 'so far' - the nag was almost as many furlongs behind the winner as its price of 25/1. So I'll award him one crocodile tear for that.
