It's now so close you could hardly put a matchstick between them, but the relentless surge of theres only one best tonic, with his fourth winner in the last six, has still failed to breach the defences of our leader.
Rosalie Bonheur returned 4/1 for our determined napster, 
but that left him just 34p short of wresting pole position from our badger chum. Still, there's three more days for the takeover bid to succeed.
Sitting behind the tonic now, but nearly £20 adrift, is lead on, nipping up a place with an 11/4 strike. But the key move today was by sonofshinner, with the nap of the day, Sang Tiger at 13/2.
That propelled our hot tip for the top nine places up to seventh. Just to strenthen the shinner's resolve in the final furlongs, there's a hot possibility of an extra promotion place this month, so sixth could be enough to enter the heavenly portal.
Just one other winner to report: MALTWHIX took 7/2 on Spinatrix to climb six to 18th.
