I know I`ve left myself open there Ash. It`s just that if we covered everything we would have a list of rules the length of your arm, which in turn increases the workload of the settlers.
It`s like the recent rule change regarding instructions, has it improved the comp in any way? Could we introduce several new rules? Yes. Again, would it improve things? I`ve doubts. It`s all a bit of fun, something to compete in and have a bit of banter. I`ve always said above all else, more important than all the rules put together the comp should be fun. That`s always been my stance on the naps comp and often the reasoning behind my views. Hope I`ve made sense. |

Whatever we decide on we can`t please everyone, that is impossible as there`s no simple solution.
I fall back on my view above in so much as I expect every single participant to play in the correct spirit at all times. Naïve? Yes. Correct view, again yes. |

You know, I cannot be bothered, the LRF debacle showed what a selfish minority can achieve and Ashmal shows this up to be a competition I cannot be bothered with.
I'll continue to settle for the next week until a replacement can be found , but am retiring from all competitions as of now. Thanks for your support Shane, but I am really pssed off by this stupidity and am sorry to leave fellow settlers in the lurch - perhaps Ashmal will offer services to help? If so very good luck to you. |

I knew this would happen, I really did
![]() betty - please re-consider for me, if you still feel the same at the end of the week then fair enough. I`m sat here reading the forum and thinking here we go again (losing settlers) This is my whole point, this is why I`m fairly free and easy and promote fun on here. We as settlers devote quite a lot of time and energy into running things, please remember it`s for the love of the comp and nothing else, nothing. I don`t expect anyone to kiss my arris in return, I don`t expect anything apart from a little respect at times, that`s all. I`m confident I can speak for the others here. |

everything gettin a bit heated here ... steady on chaps
shane, well said that last sturf bb, don't do it mate ... you are beloved here and well respected for your efforts, tho I differ on the 'selfish minority' Ashmal, I will be honest, in my div I allow a leeway of one and a half hours. Otherwise I think if people cant be rsed to check for NRs its their loss. But that's my interpretation. bb is perfectly entitled his. It's his div and as the rules clearly indicate, where they do not cover something the div settler is the final arbiter and his decision should be accepted and respected |

Without that we have no competition, it would fall apart. |

Ashmal - the position is advertised. Go get it.

Well said Reg.
Yes BB let it settle, it does get to you sometimes, I been running a race trip with comps for 20 years and in the early years i used to think why do I bother and felt like packing in many times. See how you feel in a few days mate you have been doing a splendid job. As Reg said it is your Division and you do have and have had the final say on this dispute. In this recent issue if i was settler i would not have accepted it as a non runner, you have and that is not saying i am right or you are wrong it is just saying everybody is different. Look at Reg he wouldn't give you 2 seconds lee way on the 1 hr rule and i think that is harsh but i respect his stance and totally understand where he is coming from. Ashmal may have been a little over critical in his remarks but i am sure he regrets that now. |

Sorry Pete I like others don't wish bettysboy to jack in as I appreciate the time and effort all the settlers put in however I won't retract from anything I have said. I know others have been deducted in the past so why not on this "one occassion" It has to be the same rule for all divisions imo or it would be like saying that each settler can make their own rules up for their respective divisions would it not?
|
|
By:
Ashmal mate, THERE IS NO RULE
non-runners and what you do with them are a matter for individual interpretation |
|
By:
Ash - the settler would take action in the above scenario. Fidway was given the benefit of the doubt after one withdrawn horse.
|
|
By:
Ashmal - do the settling then you decide
|
|
By:
Ashmal you couldn't do that because you would not be allowed to by any settler IMO.
Like Shane says you cannot cover everything and on the rare occasion when the settler has to make a decision you just have to accept it though i do on this occasion feel you had to raise the point as I would have done so myself in your boots but maybe in a more respectful fashion. It is maybe Fidway you could be asking some questions i just don't know it is a difficult area. |
|
By:
Shane answer this then Why have others been deducted in the past?? And betty is was not my intention for you to resign I just wanted some answers and consistancy accross the board or so to speak but if you want to keep telling me to settle (when i've told you i dont do spreadsheets) then carry on spitting your dummy out imo!
|
|
By:
the dummy is all yours Ashmal - step up
|

Pete it would have been nice if "the settler" had read the thread on the 28th where i pointed it out (was going to do it myself but was already a nr) or indeed the pm i sent to them and also the mail that Shane said he had sent him!! No replies whatsoever so that's the bit i cannot understand! If i am meant to be the bad guy for pointing it all out then fk it so be it
|
|
By:
betty dont be a pr8tt why did you not answer the pm's / e mail etc?? Would have saved airing in public but hey ho if that's what you want! Also question to ALL settlers .. Does this mean that if ANY competitor spots anything amiss ie late posting / non runners etc etc that we should not highlight it anymore?

Reged has deducted in the past when I haven`t, yes. I fully respect Reg`s decision to settle as he sees fit and so should all those in division 3. I have a slightly different view in so much as I would keep an eye on someone first and more than likely PM them if I suspected any wrong doing, which I have done with similar things with two napsters on separate occasions in the past. There are other things (tactics) let`s say which I`m not too keen on but it`s too difficult to stop.
Like I said, I expect everyone, rightly or wrongly to compete in the correct spirit at all times. The settlers made a conscious decision to keep things as simple as possible and not to be bogged down by too many rules and regulations which in turn would increase our workload. |

Always raise points/issues Ash, I along with the other settlers will always listen. Plus, sometimes we miss things.
