Tomorrow lookin very iffy - one one meet left at Lingfield and there's an inspection at 7.30am

From the |RP:
Lingfield clerk of the course Neil Mackenzie Ross: "With the forecast as it is, with the potential for more rain overnight, the prospects don't look promising. We could just about manage to race today, so we will keep going." (

We might not be getting any blockbuster winners, but we sure are getting an entertaining battle for the top spot, which has changed four times in the last five days. Today it's the turn of petemac to occupy the spot he last held on Nov 13, with the 3/1 Dancing Daffodil. Cool  But that leaves it still plenty tight at the top - anything could happen in the next four days. learning thegame, along with a host of other comp napsters, thought Snake Eyes  would help keep him at the pinnacle, but it was yet another of those aggravating odds-on flops, and a McCoy odds-on flop to boot! According to our old friend china castle it "just seemed to stop when in front". Cry

And just to add to an intriguing mix, there's a some wannabe's circling the Okayandupwego Corral. Chief among them is Weaver Fish, who collected a tidy 11/2 on Arkose  to rise three to sixth. It's a good job for lagmorian that his last race instruction delivered the goods in the shape of Be Bop Boru  at 9/4 or Weaver would have kicked him out of fifth. Shocked

But haudonaminit, because again our napster of the day hails from the lower reaches. sonofshinner went mountain climbing to get a superb 8/1 on The Rockies.  That gave him a nine-point jump out of the zone of awfulness. Great nap SOS. Cool

Elsewhere:
KBGJ also got Be Bop Boru to gain a couple of places to tenth ...
madhatters thought long and hard before picking Mentalist,  which returned 6/4 but didn't get him anywhere ...
top2rated also bagged Mentalist, his second straight winner, and rose three ...
Monte Christo scored a newsworthy 4/1 on Current Event  to rise five places from from the pit ... Grin
shanelee1966 and Nijinsky both also benefitted from their last race favourite instruction, shane rising three into the light and his old man lifting himself two places off the floor.

Very well done winners. That's a nice crop. It's possibly a heck of a lot more than you're going to get Tuesday, with the one remaining meeting under extreme threat. Hope you can think of something else to do tomorrow. Best of luck if it all works out anyway. Excited

Manshoor - Lin 2.30

Thank you

In a real dire emergency I could cover over Xmas - but frankly I intend to give up the NAPS comp because I cannot play in a competition where there are so many "JAMES HUNTS" picking the shortest odds-on horse to not lose £1.

I have agreed to settle the BMC next year as that is a proper competition and not prone to stupid posturing.
Report petemac • November 26, 2012 11:02 PM GMT
Trusty, in defence of Learning and Billy (only 2 in our division) i think they have one eye on promotion with the finishing line approaching fast, but I cannot defend or understand
what went on in the premiership, but we have been down that road and majority rules so keep your ball in play mate you may change your mind with a couple of decent winners in the last few days. Though i must admit as a newcomer i am a bit shocked on how many odds on shots are napped though at the same time we see some bloody good outsiders flying in on a regular basis.

BMC = Big Meeting Comp but I didnt mean that! I meant the BRC = Big Race Comp starting with the Lincoln next year. UD has been doing it for a while and runs several comps/tables so I offered to do it next year. I can manage it between business trips and other stuff as it is not a daily commitment.

Trusty, I know what you're saying but the strategy you are talking about is not a winning strategy so I think people will turn away from it but like a lot of things in this game, it all takes such an incredibly long time.

To be honest, it seems just as pointless, if not more so, to spend your time plucking the very occasional rank outsider out of the heap and floundering around in the lower reaches never going anywhere. Criticism of odds-on selections - in a league structure like this - is akin to saying the football divisions are crap because they have so many low-scoring games. It's the people who manage to balance the two that prosper and each division is topped by some pretty stonking efforts. I will also note that one of those currently "guilty" of overuse of short-priced nags is the very same DubaiPrince who complained about it in the first place - because he's battling to avoid relegation!
Report History Maker • November 27, 2012 11:06 AM GMT
Would be sorted in a heartbeat if betfair SPs were adopted. Having had time to reflect on the idea, I'm not actually in favour of BSPs being used though. Simplicity should be king, unless there are really compelling reasons for it not to be. I'd still swap Sunday rules for an 'any five days' rule if I was 'mother in charge' though.

madhatters - very difficult when you pick outsiders to put the right one up for the NAPS comp. Considering they often have less than a 4% chance of winning, whereas a selection near the front of the market would have a 20-40% chance of winning.

I did join the NAPS competition before about three years ago and went straight to the top of the premier after a few months of promotions like China but gave up after all the same shenanigans by players to hold on to the premier spot.

Thought I would have another go this year to do the same thing but haven't been able to.
