I'm glad you and your wife had an enjoyable and profitable day at Stratford yesterday One Shot.  The Champion jockey winning your race - it doesn't get any better than that.

.
Class will out, as Nijinsky showed on Saturday with the nap of the day. The 10/1 he got on Society Rock  lifted him 13 places into fourth position, bumping the luckless pauli out of the levitation zone. Well done Nij. And a big slap on the back too for bluenose7, who bagged Smalib Montberg  at 6/1 to zoom 12 spots up the places ready to have another crack at leaving the div.

The other wins were of a smaller order but still significant. angeleyz avoided being pushed out of the promo places by getting 4/6 on One Term,  the choice also of MOB. swift-tuttle moved up two to the fringes of promotion on the back of the 5/4 Just Lille,  third winner in a row and the fifth in six days. And down where the light don't shine mini me edged up a couple of places with the 9/10 Battle of Marengo. Well doner winners.

The One Term win by angel and MOB is interesting for another reason of course. It came in the 3.15 at Stratford, the  Sue And Steve White 25th Wedding Anniversary Novices' Hurdle. So now we know that One Shot 2 Shot's actual name is Steve White (and his missus is Sue!) for, as he told us yesterday, it was indeed he who sponsored the race to celebrate his wedding anniversary. What a nice touch! And, as I now read while writing this, Steve (and presumably Mrs White) had a great day, which is excellent news. To have your race won by AP is something indeed. And it must be quite something to see your name in lights on the Sporting Life, Racing Post and various other websites (not to mention in all the papers!) Nice wun!

The only negative was that One Shot didn't back One Time himself, because he would have been somewhat better off this morning and certainly not still propping up the division. But fate decided to rain on his parade a little: he did back a winner, Duntle in the 4.40 at Leopardstown, but the stewards reckoned it had bullied its way to victory and disqualified it - a somewhat controversial decision as I read on various forum threads. Wonder if British stewards would have been so brave? So hard luck Steve, but I'm sure it didn't take too much shine off your great day - a really nice little story that!

So good luck to the brave few out riding today. And apologies for being so late with this stuff, but my game plan worked a little too well last night. The champagne never stopped flowing! There's always a price to be paid eh?

Cheers mad, the good thing is that now she's "away" at uni, it's only about 15 miles down the road (got to go this afternoon to deliver a toaster and an ethernet cable!)
