Praise the lord! No, not that one ... LordyLordy, who is today's star napster. Fighting to lift himself from the frozen wastes down below, he decided Ice Trooper  was the appropriate choice and landed a beautiful 20/1 winner. It was, I think, the most napped outsider of the day, so maybe that's a clue, but who cares? That was a beauty! It was a bit of a struggle for LL last month. Freshly expelled from on high, he landed the odd nice winner and briefly flirted with the promo zone, but it never really seemed to get going. This month he has set his cause on fire!

Unfortunately, like lagmorian the other day, just when he might have been swirling thoughts in his head of being division leader or thereabouts Thursday morning, up pops the fresh-faced newbie  to burst his balloon. N-East Correspondent has apparently been an unhappy bunny of late. Not content with landing a 20/1 shot on his debut, he's been trying to convince us it was beginner's luck, complaining of a life "sitting at a keyboard writing drivel and posting losers". Within hours of that statement Refractor  had romped home in the 8.30, for which success he pocketed 12/1. Some loser! It's me who should be writing that sentence! And that of course propelled NEC straight back to the top of the division and Lordy has to settle for third. Still, that's 17 places better than he was in the morning!

So, less than a week in and our leader sits on a profit of £29. ARE YOU WATCHING OVER THERE? (They are, you know, and they are dead jealous!). A big high-as-much-as-you-like to Lordy and NEC for a fantastic day's napping.

But the good news doesn't stop there. Not a huge number of winners today but, oh, feel the quality. berniedinneen got the colour back into his campaign with the 6/1 Hardy Blue  to jump a whole 29 spots into joint fifth. zipper went one better, taking 11/4 on Hoarding  to rise 10 places into fourth.  And Nijinsky's hunger for success led him to Sushi  which put 9/2 on his plate and a 22-spot lift up the table.  And last, but by no means least, JH Rogers went prospecting for winners and found African Oil,  not quite a gusher but at 9/4 enough to go up three places. Well done winners: fantastic and inspiring job.

Which is all good karma for the job in hand Thursday. Just a word to those becalmed in the eternal depths of the div. I note today that, with the very rare exception, all your results say "Lost". Hardly a placer on show down there. It means your pins are a little too rusty and either need shining or replacing. Just a thought! Good luck!
