lagmorian reckons that, but for a "heavy weekend and a cure last night", into which you can read all manner of things IMO, he would not still be slumming it in this den of iniquity because he forgot about the last-day rules, but lording it with the toffs (3rd grade) in Div 2, courtesy of the 14/1 Bungle Inthejungle. Some might care to view this as a simple piece of aftertiming, but not me. I see it rather as a case of a person whose personal priorities are askew, who thinks that jugging it up till all hours - for I assume that's what he was doing - is far more important than success in the naps competition! That is deeply shocking to a person of my sensitivities, but I am very glad to see that, no doubt shocked by that awful loss, lags appears to have put the dark days behind him and is out to prove he's the best napster since Marmite was invented.
Well done lags on being our first top napster of August, with a fine selection of Links Drive Lady at 4/1. Now all you've got to do is keep it up, so to speak.
He heads a handy little crop of first day winners - not enough for my liking but I've learnt how much patience is a virtue in this division. Sitting just below is Tightfisted, obviously keen to end his days of mid-table mediocrity, and Grok, an arrival from on high who didn't actually post today but benefited from his instruction for the same horse. Tightfisted said Olympic Glory would not bring him Olympic gold, but it was good for some vintage Veuve Clicquot and a handy 11/4 return.
We then have the inestimable old/new boy Weaver Fish, yes he who is currently moderating the Premiership (Toffs Grade 1), who dived into Pearl Sea for an 11/8 reward. MOB, of whom it has been said that "there is something of the night about him", lifted Fog Patches for a 5/4 take and newcomer Ziggiesbarsbust completes the little ensemble with (look away Trusty), an odds-on hit.
And that's it. Much more to come I hope - remember, this is the division that trounces all others in terms of earnings! I was pleasantly surprised to see you all resisting the urge to get behind Frankel at the extreme pittance that was on offer. I plead guilty because I did back it today (too much to do to scan the racecards is my excuse), but it has to be said, and I think swift-tuttle would do well to note this for future reference, that it was a nailed-on earner. What was the final winning distance? Six lengths I believe. As one wag on the forum said, it "could have pulled a chariot with the entire cast of Ben Hur on board and still p!ssed it".
And finally, I regard it as divine judgment that shanelee1966 and his dad Nijinsky sit right at the bottom of the table. That'll teach them to take a holiday!

Reged I will have a go.. My pick yesterday was meant to be a winner, but the fact that it came last does leave me with a rather low level of expectation for this... I will however try and find something that might have a chance of winning.... or just find something I will not be laying and hope for the best...

Well, TF, I looked at that and asked myself over and over ... is that a selection for this comp or not? Being well acquainted with zip's colourful posts I was not at all sure and therefore decided to leave it. Sorry zip if I was wrong, but it would help to make things a little clearer. In the event no harm done, as OG won and G lost!
