A splendid crop of winners today; very well done. By my calculations, this was the only division to make a profit! Unfortunately, this tale is not as good as it could have been. And this is where I would like to bring in silent moment. Not the horse that was a 7/4 winner for two of our elite number. This silent moment is a period of reflection on the cruelty of life and how it seems to afflict certain people more than others. In fact, it's a silent moment for uptheboro.

For the second time in six days he has picked a hefty winner. Last Friday it was the 6/1 Jarrow, today the juicy Lady Mango at 7/1. But for the second time I have had to rule it invalid, because the said napster seems to be having a difficult relationship with the clock.  Either that, or he hasn't quite got his head round the one-hour rule yet.  He was a full nine minutes late today and that has cost him dear. By my calculations, with those two winners he'd be sitting in second place now, just £3 behind the leader, instead of languishing mid-table. I feel for you boro, I really do. I'll even by you a clock for Christmas, although I appreciate that's not going to be much use in the intervening months. But, to be frank, if you don't get the drift after two crunchers like this you never will!

Talking of clocks, a big well done to shanelee1966, finally leaping free of the dustbin of napsterdom with a solid 9/2 winner at Lingfield. What's clocks got to do with it? If you didn't see on yesterday's thread, shane got on the blower to his dad (that's Nijinsky in case you don't know by now) with the chance finally to gloat, only to be told: "Even a broken clock is right twice a day." To rub it in Nij's pick then came flying home at 100/30 to lift him four places into the promotion zone. Keep plugging away shane, I have full faith in you, even if the old man hasn't!

But of course the nap of the day, and story of the day, is berniedinneen's pick of (avert your eyes boro) the 7/1 Lady Mango to put him firmly in the driving seat above zipper, who took a wee break from winning. madhatter held onto third despite a non-runner yesterday following Tuesday's washout.

KBGJ was one of the Silent Moment winners at 7/4 and Trancemitter-One replaced his drowning Catterick pick with Famous Poet at 7/4 to hang onto KB's coat-tails. MOB and MyOhMy found handy 2/1 winners, while allpoints also got a boost from Silent Moment. Newsboy came to the aid of lagmorian with Famous Poet to lift him at last off the bottom, after he sportingly refused my inadvertent attempt to promote him earlier in the week.

That was a good day's work, people, even if it could have been a lot better.
