All quiet on the northern front as we enter the drama of the final day. Not one of the top five could find a winner and it was left to Earth To Mickey to show how its done with an 11/4 shot that edged seconds out of fifth place. lagmorian didn't move anywhere with his handy 5/2 winner, but it gave him added ammunition for a final day push into a promotion spot. It only takes one or two big winners from the middle of the pack to cause havoc at the top and that's not unusual on the final day. So watch out, top bods!

Nap of the day came from the inestimable Trusty, who found unaccustomed comfort in Sandbetweenyourtoes at 13/2, lifting him five places up the table. Great shout Trusty. madhatter continues to creep up the table, joining MOB in finding a winner in Chil The Kite. Even if he doesn't manage the big final leap to glory, mad's recent little run should embolden him for the month to come, while MOB, with a string of second places, can consider himself unlucky not to be higher up the table.

Hard luck story of the day though was probably top2rated, who was just a length or so away from landing a 25/1 winner in John Kay. But trier of the day must surely be Virgin, who appeared to be banking on 66/1 Aiaam Al Wafa rocketing him from last to first in the table. Then again Virg could simply have been having a laugh. The horse certainly was, last in the betting, last in the race. But, as I keep telling Virgin, it's the taking part that's the key, so well done for that!
