billy onions, DeSSieReborn, hong kong fooey, stewpot (capt.), Tingle Creek, Oshun Fynanse, curb your enthusiasm.

Hi guys, was it just jb54 dropping out & you need one new player? I take it you are waiting on confirmation if motseel is joining so we'll wait a while, good luck!

Yes I think you summed it up well UD.....Stewpot working furiously behind the scenes negotiating a four year contract with Motseel but Stewpot likes to keep a lid on spending we are a well managed outfit. Motseel will need to lower his demands or up his strike rate imo to justify £5m a year Laugh

Thought I'd find you languishing hereabouts. I hope you're all well. I have a visitor here who has persuaded me to log on and lay a Benfica clean sheet this evening. However, I shall be waiting to see who is playing for Manchester United.

I still have a punt now and again but hardly ever on horses these days. I just don't see enough to know what I'm doing (If I ever did).

Oshun will be back to post his team selection on Saturday.

Tudo de bom

The Rules

There will be 16 fortnightly rounds.
Each round and each week within rounds will begin on a Sunday and finish on a Saturday.
Each team will have 8 selections per week, one from each player, duplicate selections are allowed, no duplicate selections within teams at any time. Players must use their 1 selection per week, it cannot be carried over to the other week in the round.
10pts win or 5pts EW on British, Irish, French (as long as an industry SP is returned) or UAE racing and Breeder's Cup meeting, selected any day, Sunday through Saturday, the week ends on the last Saturday race.
Settled at SP, EW terms as industry standard.
Selections must be posted at least one hour before race time. On Saturdays there will be a 4pm cut-off for selections, that is you may pick in any race after that but it has to be posted by 4pm (1hr rule still applies).
Once you have posted a selection you are not allowed to change it or the stake, unless it becomes a non-runner or is a duplicate.
Non Runners - that team member may choose again for that week.

Team captains will be responsible for managing any wildcards required, there are no restrictions on their use, but please try and share them around so that no one individual is always claiming them. Please also name who the wildcard is for when posting.
If any player is absent for two weeks running without notice, they may be dropped from the comp.

Teams will start the week from a baseline of 0pts. This equates to 8 losing selections and/or non-selections.
Subsequent scores will be added to this baseline plus return of the winning part of the stake (10pts for win and EW winner, 5pts for EW placed). All scores count.
Scores will be accumulated through the fortnight, there will be no points awarded for weekly finishing positions.

Points structure for overall yearly comp:
Fortnightly winners will receive 8pts, runners-up - 7pts, 3rd - 6pts, 4th - 5pts, 5th - 4pts, 6th - 3pts, 7th - 2pts, 8th - 1pt
+ 8pts awarded at the end of the year for the best overall profit.

I'm just making sure that the person I'm replacing hasn't already posted for this week or anything - correct?

So if I wanted to put my selection up tomorrow on the designated thread.. there would be no probs?

Has anyone from this team put a selection up for this week yet?

Selections must be posted at least one hour before race time. On Saturdays there will be a 4pm cut-off for selections, that is you may pick in any race after that but it has to be posted by 4pm (1hr rule still applies).

If you pick in later races and it becomes a late non runner, the probability is you will lose your selection (ie if you post a selection for the 5.00 race on Saturday and at 16.01 on Saturday its declared a NR, you won't be able to replace it with another selection. Better to select earlier on saturday because of this if you can [;)] (unless, of course, you think you have a cert in the 5.00)

Well it won't be a Saturday anyway - I won't be dragging the teams score down with my flat selections. Not particularly keen on the Irish jumps racing with their ridiculous overounds over there, but desperate times call for desperate measures.

Does the majority of the team actually back selections EW?

still travelling I see lol,
hope you are not paying excess for all those form booksHappy
By:

When: 15 Sep 11 00:12
60/70% EW I suppose
feel free to go Win only
it can be tactical & depend on what the scores on the boards are at that point in time
at this point no significant scores etc

I'm here properly now!

The most important thing Ryan is to go with whatever selection you want. Last day tactics are important but if you're not a saturday player normally then the rest of us will work around what score we have.

Generally we find that a 10/1 plus winner in week one helps Laugh
By:
stewpot
When: 15 Sep 11 00:21
spread varies but probably
3 or 4 @ 10-1 to 33-1
a couple 6 to 10-1
a couple shorter
whcih gives us a nice balance
if get an early 'nice' strike the rest can be bold
the reverse may also be true

Dessie enjoys the 33-1 flings, and I encourage him. . . . lol

Oshun no sampling then ....... lol
off to bed

Ryanwe,

As a rough guide we like to go EW on 5/1 shots upwards but there may be occasions we'll go EW on lesser priced, depending on points situation at the time. Its rare for us to go Win only on prices above 5/1 but thats not to say that we wouldn't if the Captain thought the situation demanded it (ie if we were well in arrears with just a couple of selections left)
By:

When: 15 Sep 11 00:22
So is there a certain price that I should be looking at?

You won't ever have to worry about me playing short priced horses.

MANL stands for Making A Nice Living - I think you asked me in the pm? It was Mepoor allstar NAPS league because the majority of us reside from the 'this is for people who don't study form' thread on the horse racing forum.. but someone suggested a different name, and the rest is history.
