large block again(3k) late last night on katie 10th elim @2.66

These are obviously the DISHONEST opinions btw.
|
|
By:
Good stuff, except I think you maybe harsher than the GBP on liddle Cher.
|
|
By:
Possibly, I forgot to comment that I thought her songs were to indistinguishable and she would have been better to have finished with a "rock" ballad along the lines of Eternal Flame or I Go To Sleep (loose interpretation I know, but hasn't stopped them in the past).

Good stuff squares.
Hard to disagree with much of that. The thing I noticed about Cowell last night was how he kept praising various acts for fighting for their place in the semi. He did this with Katie, Cher aand Matt. No mention of this after Rebecca, though he is quoted in one of the papers that she shows real passion backstage, but blames Chery for failing to bring this to her performances. He clearly likes someone with a real desire or some might say a real desperation to win. |
|
By:
Good point FLL. I haven't waded through today's rags yet.
|
|
By:
TBF I doubt it's Cheryl's fault. I just feel with Rebecca her nerves have taken over the last couple of weeks.
I love her reserved way of performaning. She's not all over a song with fake emotion and allows the song some space. For this style to work you need to feel she's totally in control. This clearly hasn't been the case the last 2 weeks and she's looked nervous. |
|
By:
A couple of Vodka's 20 minutes before she goes on would work wonders! [;)]
|
|
By:
It's strange how Rebecca seemed to be growing in self confidence - only to see it evaporate over the last two weeks. It's not surprising to see her as a big drifter in the market, which is a shame... Her final place could well be up for grabs now.
Good summary Squares, although I disagree on Cher. I'm certainly not a fan of hers, but I think she did OK last week. Back on safe ground, appealing to her target audience, I think she'll be OK. Katie bottom, Mary and Wagner in the sing off. I'm too much of a conspiracy theorist, but I'm convinced that the double elimination is back simply to get Waggy out this week! |
|
By:
Have to say, I've warmed to Wagner though - and his performances this week were by far his best of the series (not difficult, but there you go...).
|
|
By:
based on last nights show and performances
all should be eliminated bar one it was diatribe therefore only one fitting to win WAGNER sums up x factor 2010 just my opinion |
|
By:
Nights in white Satin really worked. Matt was one of the few to choose the right song to do second.
Agree with you that Brass in pocket was awful and undid any good the U2 track had done for mary. Thought Katie's 2nd song didn't really improve much on Sex on Fire. Vocally poor in both BUT certainly exciting to watch. Not sure SC's gameplan in putting down her version of the REM song will have the desired reverse effect he would want. Wagner was understated and (almost) in tune. Could be curtains for him! |
|
By:
The first three are guaranteed Matt Rebecca and One Direction.
Matt produced the performance of the series last night and is a worthy fav at this stage. Rebecca needs to welly it to get back in the contest. The kids are not going to get better or worse in this competition and have peaked (or troughed) depending on your view already. In conclusion only Rebecca can stop Matt as they are the stand-out talents. |

Rowbees
Got to be fair I don't think that was Matt's best last night personally but very good none the less. I think the 'first three' are far from guaranteed. Very open and interesting double eviction tonight. |
|
By:
strong stench of hypocrisy in here.
Get off of my thread. |
|
By:
i agree with rowbees...the final 3 are as nailed on as u can get, unless of course wagners conspiracy vote gets stronger...
|

By:
pretty much spot on Squares. Only thing I would say is that while Wagner sang better doing Creep. I felt without the dancers and all the showbiz it feels rather limp. However did enjoy Addicted to Love for the sheer absurdity. Also thought although Katie was vocally good on her second song I didn't like the arrangement. Plus if Figgy didn't like Jamie Archer, I hate to think what he'd have thought of her performance of KoL, sounded like a playschool presenter trying rock karaoke during her shout outs.
|
|
By:
I'll tell him.
Bugger off Lou. |
|
By:
Yep CJ, Katie was bad Karaoke last night.
|
|
By:
Katie's just a poor singer. Day's are numbered.

Nobody is 'nailed on' for the top 3 except Matt.

Yes that's what I Think. Very open |

good stuff squares, really interesting as usual
fwiw here are my views wagner - actually think that despite the judges best attempts to nobble hin (opening slot, nicer comments, clifford stories in press) - he will have picked up new supporters last night and i am beginning to think he has a real shot at the final, when you combine anti cowell angst with potential voters who just think he seems like a decent bloke getting a lot of stick. so he bought dope - hardly a hanging offence, but it may be cowell's best opportunity of getting rid of him one d - the telling thing here is the slot, which could mean cowell is confident of them getting through or he is losing interest in them. i suspect the latter, with glee lined up for the semi, but the impression now is that cowell doesnt belief ehe can get them over the line and a final spot would be enough to justify giving them a contract. their performances continue to infuriate - literally drowned out by backing track on first, much better on 2nd with harry leading up, and the coverage of the asian boy hints at an appeal to the asian vote. some good judges think they might be bottom three, i dont think so, but think a win now looks impossible mary - all the signs here are that they want mary out now. louis's plea for votes showed she isnt polling well, and her position in the running order showed the game is up imo, coupled with the v important fact they gave her her worst performance second. unlike the others. i think she will go tonight, prob in the sing off, and in truth, she deserves to, as if she had been a plain looking 25 year old, she would have been out a long time ago. cher - some dont think she will bounce here, but i think she is sure to, as she has a strong support base that are likely to be mobilised into giving her some backing. only thing is whether she can bounce enough to avoid bottom three, and that has to be questionable. most people, including me, on her dont get her, and from my perspective her rapping is distinctly average, but in an increasingly average looking year at least she is current and a little original. her initial audition was still her finest moment however, as those facial contortions wear thin after a while. in the in running thread last night, someone said he would rather turn over and watch dads army than cher, well, don't tell him pikey.... rebecca - last night was the key night for her and although she did fine, she didnt deliver the hammer performances that she so desperately needed, not to keep her in, because she will be fine, but to make her a realistic winner. it is a singing competition so we are not expecting cartwheels, but she is literally frozen with fear and i cant see how things will get better. very possible now she wont even make the final, though 2nd or 3rd prob more likely... matt - along with come together, matt's ;i love rock and roll' was up there with the worst performances of the season so far, but he turned it round, as expected, with his second song, giving him the program arc that probably encourages votes. when he is doing what suits him, he is so far clear of the rest it's a joke. the 'type' of performance he is given in the semi will tell us once and for all whether cowell wants him to win, as give him another uptempo song and dancers and it's not over....the only conceivable danger is the judges turning against him, and in that respect the notw stories raise an eyebrow, but surely has enough in the bag to win comfortably. i do though think it is on sufferance, as none of the others have been able to muster credible opposition katie - the most shameful attempt by the judges to get her more votes (pimp slot again, ridiculously ott comments, louis ramping her over his own acts) but the likeliest explanation is that they know how much she needs votes. her performances were deeply unconvincing imo, and my face comment of the night on the forum was that she looks like andy murray's mum. inconceivable to me that she wont go tonight, and almost certainly imo as botton, tenth elim. |

GOOD ACCOUNT AT TOP OF THE PAGE..
NOTHING TO DO WITH SINGING....ITS ABOUT KEEPING THE GRAVY TRAIN GOING,.. UPTIL LAST NIGHT AND THE NEWS OF TODAYS PAPERS... I WOULD HAVE SAID EACH MENTOR WOULD END UP WITH ONE ACT EACH LEFT[AT LEAST] KEEPS ALL INTERESTED... COWELL GOT A BANANA SKIN READY FOR WAGGY...IN THE REPORT OF A DRUG DEALER AT THE STUDIO. IM STICKING WITH WAGGY STAYING.....SO FOR ME ...ITS MARY,KATIE,CHER THE CHOICE TO GO |
|
By:
Applying the "could I be ars*d to vote" test to last night and trying to be objective I'd say:
Matt yes Rebecca yes One Direction only if I was getting up to make a cup of tea as well Wagner yes Cher only if I was getting up because I was dying for a p*ss Katie no Mary only if I was getting up to make a cup of tea AND was dying for a p*ss On this very scientific measure it seems clear that it is katie bottom and mary/cher in trouble. |

Good stuff Squares.
Regarding changing the order from first to second song, I'm sure they did it once before in Rhydian's year. They had him sing early in the first song and then he closed the song with his second. |
|
By:
edit: Yep, according to wiki with five left in series 4, Rhydian both opened and closed the show.
Hope went 2nd and 6th, Nikki 3rd and 9th, Leon 4th and 7th, Same Difference 5th and 8th. |
|
By:
ok, cheers sean but not something that happens regularly
|
|
By:
Yea, only the second time they have ever changed the order. The reason this times seems to try and make sure Mary and Wagner are bottom 3. In theory the best 2 slots were Katie's (song before the lines opened) and the very last slot (Cher)
I suppose last time it was to make sure Rhydian didnt go out (maybe because he was polling Danyl Johnson type numbers) |

To put wagner on 1st both halfs was shocking. Clearly shows cowell is rattled re wagner. Dannii on tellymix also saying wagner not good for x factor after toady o'leary said same thing earlier. Even Louis was getting evil eye last night for defending his own act a bit.
No wonder public smells a bullying rat and is voting accordingly. Swap chipping in with cash for picking up the phone and its a rerun of the end of It's A Wonderful Life ![]() We even have the snow ![]() ![]() Wheelchair for cowell ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I really thought Rebecca couldn't have been much more ineffective than she was last night.
Just can't believe it's beyond possibility that she ends up going home tonight. Accept that's very unlikely but can't be having her as a nailed on finalist at all. Might have a tiny tickle dutching her 10th and 11th out just in case. |
|

"Outspoken" Dannii Minogue tells peole to get wagner out. For "outspoken" read "on message".

Nice thread chaps, really how this forum used to be.
Strange eviction battle this one. Can't really call it but I suspect Katie will be bottom. |

You mentioned 'It's a Wonderful Life' ............. is that where your name comes from? What an absolutely fabulous film - one of the best ever made. Lovely story, brillinatly acted and when the whole town all bring him money at the end and the bell rings on the Christmas tree as he explains to his daughter it means an angel has got his wings (Clarence) I cry every time. Absolutely 11/10 smashing knockout film. Good name Sir. |
