Lou you do make me laugh - now you're the one arguing it's not about opinions! I think it's your 'opinion' that the music industry view him that way, and I certainly wouldn't agree.

Tell you what. Have a good look on the net (I'll trust you to be honest) and see how many times you'll see McCartney and Rod Stewart are great singers .... then do the same with Elton. Tom Jones ..... good singer. Eric Clapton ...... guitarist not good singer.

I'm not sure I've got time to do that Lou and even if I did, not sure I'd trust what I found on the net to make my mind up. Anyway, it's rather a pointless debate as we're not betting on how good a singer EJ is!

Yep, sorry Lou, I think you've lost all of us on this one... Rod Stewart, Paul McCartney?!?! Could you have chosen two weaker singers to compare Elton to?!
I'm not saying they're better or worse - all three have unique voices and to some degree are an acquired taste. All three are ultra talented and all three have made millions from their undoubted songwriting / performing ability.
But I don't think any of this trio would go down as the greatest singer.
Anyway, it's all just opinions at the end of the day. Like comparing apples with oranges. Or in Matt's case, comparing apples with orang-utans!

Rod had a terriffic soulful voice Nick and has an incredible range. Try belting out one of his songs in the car you'll get nowhere near it. Very high voice. Gone now obviously but he aint bad for 65!
"You Wear it Well" ...............aaah great singalong stuff.

Stacey will go one way or the other - either winning it in a canter or walking out in floods of tears early doors. Either way a little too short for me at the moment...
Anyway, back to matters at hand - Elton is a god-like pop genius make no mistake!

Nothing much. I met Jason MaCateer last year and I told him I've always been a big man utd fan. He was a really nice bloke and said that he plays for the Liverpool vets team and Utd have Denis Irwin, Pallister, Lee Sharpe etc and after the game they all have a pint and get on really well. Funny how the rivalry goes when you're out of the team and that bit older.

george what was that classic fall track where they walk into the hacienda in the video?
i am not ramping with stacey because i have had a quick monkey on and i am not going to lay it off; i am just strongly suggesting you all get in because it is an absolute certainty in my eyes, total certainty...

My missus watches it (I can't stand it) and wanted to put a pony on Stacey without knowing the odds. When I told her she was a nutt she thought it a bit skinny so has held back.

Surely it's got to be even money her lasting the pace though? The public will put her through misery every night with task after task... The value bet has to be for her to walk!

Can't stand her myself. When she was on X Factor, one minute of her talking/acting scatty and I just couldn't bare her. Nice singer but how could you have anight out with her? Worse still a night in!

Fall videos were usually quite amusing nick, if only to see what the latest fanny MES had copped off with. Extraordinary success rate for such an ugly drunken tw@t
Maybe even rivals Lou
The funniest is 'The Mixer' On tour in eastern europe it seems on a boat with a couple of local prostitutes and a psychopath with a fiddle. Seek it out

Lou Macaris B are you some sort of attention seeking muppet?
It's not an opinion when it comes to EJ being a good vocalist. He is a good vocalist. I don't/didn't buy his records but that doesn't mean that he's not a good singer.
I stumble across a lot of posts from you on X Factor and I really find you annoying at times mate. You always seem to have the obvious view about something when the horse has already bolted weeks or months ago. You can bleat on about Matt all you like. He's the favourite. I don't see any anti post comments from you when he was 5/1. We can all tip up 7/4 shots.
How on earth can you say EJ was not a good vocalist? You're talking pony mate.
Tell me who you think will be evicted this week?

does anyone know which elton john songs they are singing, apart from mary...
lou's ok pete, just a little sanctimious and in possession of the most stupendous persecution complex, and trying desperately to protect/ramp his matt bet, which makes him a little irritating sometimes.

Hey, Mr. Churchill comes over here To say we're doing splendidly. But it's very cold out here in the snow Marching to and from the enemy.

Nothing much crab. I sometimes get the order on saturday, but relying on DS and xf updates for songs like everyone else
I'm kinda at the stage where I think it doesn't matter anyway. Roll on the Matt Becca showdown tbh
A predictable few weeks of shrinking the field ahead I think

Thanks for speaking up on my behalf. I've added to my Matt bet so am now all in at 5.15 so to say I'm tipping a 7/4 favourite is grossly unfair. Thanks for letting him know.
Cheers
Lou

No dltsgdom. tbh the single artist theme makes it pretty narrow. ej has a distinctive voice so direct comparisons are inevitable so tough for the serious players to pull it off well, imo.

I like it cj personally - but guess we'll see in time. Think it could potentially at least bring out a bit more of a ballad performance that I think they need.

Not sure if thats the best song considering its association, I dont think Elton week would suit Rebecca on most songs with her voice, but would imagine she must be fine with this song or they would have given a less meaning song for the show, possibly a last slot with this song.

Songs should work well for both Matt and Rebecca, but Rebecca's will go down best with the judges / public and I expect she'll be favourite after tonight's show...

I think Matt should do okay - it seems like a pretty safe song that should fit in with his girly voice. Rebecca's song is a more risky choice, but if she can get it right she will probably be favourite. I don't think the judges will want to say anything too negative about these two as the show is looking increasingly like a two-horse race.
