Laugh Lou you do make me laugh - now you're the one arguing it's not about opinions! I think it's your 'opinion' that the music industry view him that way, and I certainly wouldn't agree.
Report LOU MACARIS TARTAN B November 11, 2010 5:43 PM GMT
stu

Tell you what.  Have a good look on the net (I'll trust you to be honest) and see how many times you'll see McCartney and Rod Stewart are great singers .... then do the same with Elton.  Tom Jones ..... good singer.  Eric Clapton ...... guitarist not good singer.
Report layprofessional November 11, 2010 5:44 PM GMT
but lou they have sold trillions of records something matt can only dream of THATS THE POINT

Report stu November 11, 2010 5:44 PM GMT
I'm not sure I've got time to do that Lou and even if I did, not sure I'd trust what I found on the net to make my mind up. Anyway, it's rather a pointless debate as we're not betting on how good a singer EJ is!
Report LOU MACARIS TARTAN B November 11, 2010 5:45 PM GMT
fair enough stu you can quit while you're behind and we'll agree to disagree.
Report Mikeeey November 11, 2010 5:47 PM GMT

Report Dizzy42 November 11, 2010 7:17 PM GMT
Yep, sorry Lou, I think you've lost all of us on this one...  Rod Stewart, Paul McCartney?!?!  Could you have chosen two weaker singers to compare Elton to?!

I'm not saying they're better or worse - all three have unique voices and to some degree are an acquired taste.  All three are ultra talented and all three have made millions from their undoubted songwriting / performing ability.

But I don't think any of this trio would go down as the greatest singer.

Anyway, it's all just opinions at the end of the day.  Like comparing apples with oranges.  Or in Matt's case, comparing apples with orang-utans!
Report LOU MACARIS TARTAN B November 11, 2010 7:19 PM GMT
Rod had a terriffic soulful voice Nick and has an incredible range.  Try belting out one of his songs in the car you'll get nowhere near it.  Very high voice.  Gone now obviously but he aint bad for 65!

"You Wear it Well" ...............aaah great singalong stuff.

Lou Macaris B are you some sort of attention seeking muppet?

It's not an opinion when it comes to EJ being a good vocalist. He is a good vocalist. I don't/didn't buy his records but that doesn't mean that he's not a good singer.

I stumble across a lot of posts from you on X Factor and I really find you annoying at times mate. You always seem to have the obvious view about something when the horse has already bolted weeks or months ago. You can bleat on about Matt all you like. He's the favourite. I don't see any anti post comments from you when he was 5/1. We can all tip up 7/4 shots.

How on earth can you say EJ was not a good vocalist? You're talking pony mate.

Tell me who you think will be evicted this week?

Rebecca gets the best song - but the layers will still find lame excuses to oppose her
Report stroodle November 13, 2010 2:45 PM GMT
Not sure if thats the best song considering its association, I dont think Elton week would suit Rebecca on most songs with her voice, but would imagine she must be fine with this song or they would have given a less meaning song for the show, possibly a last slot with this song.
Report stu November 13, 2010 3:22 PM GMT
People really think they will give her that song and then not push her to the max after the performance - good luck with that one Rebecca layers.

Report Dizzy42 November 13, 2010 6:01 PM GMT
Songs should work well for both Matt and Rebecca, but Rebecca's will go down best with the judges / public and I expect she'll be favourite after tonight's show...
Report Mikeeey November 13, 2010 6:10 PM GMT
I think Matt should do okay - it seems like a pretty safe song that should fit in with his girly voice.  Rebecca's song is a more risky choice, but if she can get it right she will probably be favourite.  I don't think the judges will want to say anything too negative about these two as the show is looking increasingly like a two-horse race.
