Im not sure , maybe dead heat rules on performance basis ?

I've no idea why any bookmaker would pay out in full on either of these teams, as it's quite clearly a 2-way tie where dead heat rules should apply.

By "some bookies", do you mean one particular bookmaker?

At least one bookie stipulated that if two teams got eliminated at the same stage it would come down to group points then goal difference.  Algeria had the better goal difference.

ladcrooks, paddy shower, not ok corrals + nobetfred all paying on algeria...betway,betbright + Winner all paying on dead heat.

rung ladcrooks before tournament to clarify but after 3 phone calls was told was team that progressed furthest,no mention of

goal difference or points in group. not complaining as backed algeria but would have been gutted if on nigeria and told was

a loser.

I backed Algeria at 14/1 with Betway, as those were the best odds at the time.

In hindsight it seems that I would have been better off taking worse odds with one of the bookies that adapts the rules in-play to suit its own financial interests.

You couldn't make it up.

isnt what you just said equivalent to saying you would have been better off taking 3/1 a place than 12/1 a win about a horse that you know came 2nd?

No, it's a completely different set of circumstances.

I was referring to the irony of a situation resulting from bookmakers not explaining their rules and therefore being able to make them up as they go along, should they choose to do so.

I have complete control over a decision to back a horse to win or to finish in the places; I have no control at all over decisions made by various bookmakers that were never explained in their betting rules.

understood!

I can't believe they can make up the rules as they go along, but if people don't enquire then maybe they can
