hardly any direct freekick goals hardly any decent long range shooting no iconic games yet a lot of the best players in the world not performing brazil are boring hardly any headed goals terrible crossing goalkeeper errors general defensive tactics enforced lots of red cards lots of stoppages due to over zealous refs terrible pundits terrible co commentators(excluding big mick)
teams were just as boring in Italia90, including Brazil, (and England of course, who went through their group 1-1, 0-0, 1-0 again). but all the other stuff makes this much, much worse, especially the lack of decent goals; too many poor ones down to keeper error. 48 group games and hardly an interesting moment. feel cheated by the whole thing. my favourites were 1978, 1986 and 1998

Great Great Great British officials have saved this WC. ITV analysis last night should have spent a bit more time on the brilliant flagging on the run and Kaka exchanging **** with Webb in mutual slightly manlove admiration

No No No The officials from these fair islands have saved this world cup. Great flagging on the run, humour, physicalitalitality they have it all. They'll be dancing in the streets of Rotherham whenEl Ebbo swaps sweaty shirts in harmonious mutual affection and appreciation with El Messi.

'This Wolrd Cup is becoming superb. Now the minnows are out we see the real cream. ' - no, the minnows didn't even qualify, 1hearts. Like...scotland. Again.
Also, are Italy minnows? I thought they were the world champions...

REBELFM, I have absolutely no fookin idea what you are talking about. I think it's supposed to be funny, but really, I haven't a clue what you are referring to. Please give further explanation in future.

Best WC ever was Italia '90. Hands down. Then USA '94. Then 2002.
This has been alright except for the vuvuzelas. Whoever invented those should have one inserted, 4nally. Whoever uses one is seriously mentally ill and should not be allowed out, ever.

England are always the most boring team anyway (did you know they have gone through the group stage three times with a 0-0, 1-0 and 1-1?), and must have the record for most 0-0s
clinging to the hope that Netherlands Brazil will be something, but I think it will be a tense affair. Germany Argentina should be a cracker though

basically there are 4 games that can possibly save some credability in this world cup
holland v brazil germany v argentina spain v ger/arg spa/ger/arg v bra/holl
anything involing paraguay or uraguay is going to be the usual snash that this world cup has served up
these 4 games although a great chance they will also be snash, at least have a shot of being world cup worthy, im holding my breath.

The 'great' world cups are remembered for a handful of really special matches (apart, maybe, from 1970). There is still plenty of potential for those matches to take place given the teams left in it. There have been some decent matches so far too but never as interesting when theres less riding on it. The England Germany game was excellent and Spain Portugal was a very good game too.
I reckon the arg germany game could be one to remember.

A crap ball that is too light and got a mind of his own doesn't help. Go to youtube and look at the video clip of the top 50 goals and watch how the ball flies through the air and compare to this crap ball. Huge noticeable different.

It is true that England have drawn 19 of 59 World Cup Finals matches, but 'only' ten have been 0-0.
The others: 4-4 v Belgium in 1954, 2-2 v Soviet Union and Austria in 1958, 1-1 v Republic of Ireland and West Germany in 1990, 2-2 v Argentina in 1998, 1-1 v Sweden in 2002, 2-2 v Sweden in 2006 and 1-1 v USA in 2010.

without question the worst world cup i have seen, seen them all since 1970 which by the way was the best world cup i will ever see i have no doubt in that. i dont really think we need 32 teams in it, 16 in 1970 was fine it worked well small teams like isreal and el salvador qualified so it wasnt exclusive to the big boys.

my favourite and best world cup, final was an absolute thriller, anyone who says differently doesn't have a scooby doo. End to end stuff, chances galore and the right team won in the end.
Find it bizzare that people can claim this world cup has not been thoroughly entertaining, unlike the dire tripe served up 4 years ago. After the 1st round of group games the games have all been excelent imo.

--------------------- technically from a betting perspective the Belgium game was 3-3 at ft and there have been three other ft draws (1966 Germany 2-2, 1970 Germany 2-2, 1990 Cameroon 2-2)
with that in mind the Belgium game in 1990 where Platt scored on 120 minutes would bring the number of 0-0 draws to 11:
Brazil 1958, Bulgaria 1962, Uruguay 1966, Spain and Germany 1982, Morocco 1986, Netherlands and Belgium 1990, Nigeria 2002, Portugal 2006, Algeria 2010

-------------------------------------------- personally I thought the 24-team format gave the best group games because sides could still qualify in third, and you could get through with one win. the current format almost forces negativity because teams are scared to lose their first game (even if Spain bucked a trend and won it)
if they must persist with a group format I would do it differently. if it has to be four sides in eight groups, then let the top three go through, with the top side getting a bye and the second and third going to a preliminary ko. or take 24 teams in four groups of six with the top four qualifying. anything to free up the teams and allow them to lose without fear
