To be honest Wisewords, for many years now I pop out for a couple of beers on most Friday evenings, usually 3 or 4 max.
When I return Penn is the meeting on ATR, and my aim is to recover costs, usually around £15.
In 20 years I have failed in my endeavours maybe half a dozen times.
I lay the outsiders at Penn and it works for me .

Evening campers, hope you are all well on this cold Saturday morning.
But as always we have racing from Penn National to warm us up, and hopefully we can pick us a few losers .

Everything getting back to normal here in the UK, and Penn is here for all those who have done their dough at York today.
Just Lay the outsiders and recoup the losses.
Nothing complicated, no outsiders have won for years, so fill your boots.

so you lay 1 beer(a fiver) to 100 beers (£500), that's one way to ruin your Friday night!

Swiftly, just checked the full Result of this race, run on 29th May.
I would advise you that in that race the 5 horse, Swift Joanna was SP of 55/1, finished 4th behind the winner Graceygab.
That would have been the bet, but you are correct that a bigger than normal SP of 28/1 won the race.
Morning Line price was only 18/1 however, so not big enough to enter my calculations.

Worked at Rothmans Aylesbury for 10 years, so tips at Woodbine not really my thing.
But , this Emma-Jayne hoss in the 12.20 looks to have a favourites chance @ 7/4 Lord of Legends.

Trap to Line, wins @ 9/4.
Easy when you don’t risk any money.
Like most of the bluffers on here.

Take a look at US track results on the ATR website , where they give you full results for all
the days meetings,and you will see that the outsider of the field rarely wins.
I’m very selective and the hit rate for me is almost nonexistent .
Only go big if I have an average day on the UK stuff,and I need to recoup losses.

To be fair to RothmanMike I've just checked through the 100 or so Penn races in the last month, and not one single outsider has won. The biggest priced winner was 16/1.

If you say you have an obvious edge - and you come on a forum teling everyone what it is - that isn't very clever.

Furthermore, if your said edge is so good and foolproof you only make £15/20 a meet - you need to check yourself into The Priory.

Tiny,the thing is, how many people do you know would risk £1000 to win £2.
Not an edge, just need the Bank and the Balls (and possibly the stupidity), to play.
I do, and I’m happy.

As I’m sure you know,when studying something for as long as I have you get a 2nd sense about things.
I don’t Lay all 100.0 plus shots if I know a trainer or a jockey who pulls the odd result out of the bag.
But yes,most of my lays are 50/1 on the ATR morning line,which usually means they are a million.
On here, greed is enemy.
Nicking £30 or so daily on here gets me £1k per month, if all goes well.
Accidents of course happen, hence the last 2 years have each been £7k +  each.
You have accept these things and move on.

Bad day if this 8 horse wins the 23.54 @ Penn

No,I didn’t play.
Looked back at the Penn website which quoted an SP of only 20/1.
Unless it shows 50/1 on the Morning Line, I don’t get involved,esp at 00.22 in the morning.
The BSP looks interesting, but as I have hinted before, I don’t play just because of a big price.
BSP OF 179/1 for a 20/1 shot in a 6 horse race,very odd.
Wish I could find the full result on the ATR site, to establish if I would have played, but it was definitely
not 50/1 so unlikely that I would have been tempted.

Genuinely glad you avoided it Mike -all punters are only ever a click away from being wiped out.

Well that was about the strangest race I've seen. 3 horses, maybe 4, unseated I think.

what caused it Darlo? Will it be off?

Didn't see at first, in fact I completely missed it to the extent I thought it was innocuous. On the replay looked like one of them went down on the bend and certainly the horse right behind and perhaps one more had nowhere to go.

Certainly a delay to racing now. No idea if it's injuries to jockeys or horses and/or track conditions.

20 minutes late but racing continuing.

Next year Penn National  is going to reduce the number of racing days and they are not going to have live racing in April and October. The revenues of the local casino have been declining…

I still remember when they used to have live racing 4 or 5 days per week, the 12 months of the year, with 9 races per day.

he has wonned phurst two races, second a good strong late run, both on  turf. Nice prices too, phurst just held on from front.
