With 5-7 tracks running at the same time we often see 10-15 races going off within an hour. Many of these races not even reaching £1K liquidity. Anyone agree on less tracks would give us better liquidity and better betting markets? Why can't Betfair see this? I even think that this solution will increase interest for US horse racing, since liquidity is higher and long term BF will make more money.

They probably make more on totes that are played here when liquidity on these tracks is low . Don't expect a change.

Between them Betfair & ATR have ruined the US racing, just watch ATR any night like tonight endless replays that most punters have already seen several times, plus endless "GAME ON " Ladbrokes adverts that drive any self respecting punter to turn the sound off, then Betfair LV so hit and miss, plus many of the bigger players have been hit by the unfair premium charge that it makes it not worth the effort any more, these were the people that made the markets, now liquidity is virtually non existent on many of the markets, maybe it will pick up now the winters here but imo I very much doubt it will ever go back to what it was 5 years or so ago.

need to bring back Golden Gate, Hollywood, Santa Anita and the like

100% false less racing here has NEVER ONCE resulted in more liquidity.
Why do people believe this rubbish?
Paying highest commissions ever for least amount of racing ever.

we need more tracks to increase interest and liquidity

OP is mad

The PC charge was the main thing,so I would blame BF most for the massive drop in liquidity.
Us big players used to put £5000 each in some races. The spreads where very tight and prices  very generous.
Near 100% books. Now well if you back you lsoe if you lay you lose and BF cross matching bets take up all the value and mistakes made.
So the value is sucked from the market.Absolute joke.

I feel the end of Betfair is in sight now .Im fully dedicated to the purple now.Give it a go as liquidity will be massive for a couple of years.
I am planning to seed there for a long time to help them out.

It has become impossible for anyone to win now medium to long term.

Are there US markets on purple ?
If there are they don't mention them.

liquidity used to be not so good, but now ladcrookes have taken it over its about the same as it is here, poor! lol

With winter here, now is the time for PC incentive(rebate) to play and liven up these markets once again.

Which of the US tracks do u think the betfair gets right the most?
Report RiskyBusiness November 21, 2013 7:24 PM GMT
the daq don't seem to have aqueduct though, do they now, for some reason? and also just stop covering anything at around 2 am uk time, so still quite poor in comparison imo
Report Boogie Cat December 9, 2013 11:13 AM GMT
i dont bet u s horses anymore and thats all i used to bet. when liquidity went i left.

the markets dont get going until 2 mins before the off, if at all. hope liquidity comes back, but until it does I'll stick to other sports.

i think the comm charge made a big difference to the markets.
Report salmon spray December 9, 2013 3:55 PM GMT
I don't think it's as good as a few years ago,but there was all but £100k matched on two successive minor races at Hawthorn the other night. Liquidity is poorer at the bigger tracks most of the time.

They are taking more commissions than ever and attracting less new money than ever.  Just look at the register dates above.
Report salmon spray December 9, 2013 9:22 PM GMT
The reason we've all been here forever is that they have not been taking new forum registrations since Aug 2012. Don't think they've been turning away punters.
