An appalling performance by the markets managers tonight , scratches galore left in the markets here, there, and everywhere.

jas, i find this situation with US markets unacceptable. Some smart operators seem to be manipulating the price of the scratchings on BF to take advantage of the deductions.
Surely there is some service that BF can subscribe to that would give them an immediate alert of all the scratchings. |

They own TVG ffs but its simply poor management of the markets on betfairs part. You could train a chimpanzee in less than an hour to do a better a job and this isnt a recent occurence its always been the same. The amount of customers lost because of this must cost them a fortune in commission. |

Kye, very interesting, I'm glad you posted that. I'm also glad that you qualified that whoever is manipulating the prices and taking advantage are "smart operators".
Punters are trading on a betting exchange to take each others money, either through superior skill or knowledge or through exploiting whatever other opportunities may present themselves. So in that sense, I have no problem with "smart operators" taking advantage of Betfair's incompetence at the expense of other punters on here who haven't clued in. The broader question that needs to be asked however is more explosive in my view. "Is Betfair's incompetence inadvertent, or are they complicit in allowing these "smart operators" (who are I feel are the market makers on here) to take advantage?" It has often made me wonder why something so simple as taking out of the markets runners that in some cases had been withdrawn hours before is still being missed. Especially when punters on here have repeatedly complained about it to Betfair's management. You can draw your own conclusions. I disagree with Bluenose in his conclusion that punters have been lost because of this. Except of a handful of punters on here who have clued in and have being very vocal complaining about it and an even smaller number actually taking advantage themselves, most posters on here seem to live in blissful ignorance of these shenanigans. Besides, I think it pales in comparison with other "issues" now prevalent in trading the US racing markets.....but that's an entirely different debate for a different time. |
