I have deceided that as I only have small amounts to invest gradually over 3 years that an option would be the Halifax jobbie.

So hence I need to choose 5-10 ftse 100 companies that will perform consistently over this time maybe 5 years. Yes they may go down but some must be better choices than others.

So far I like Astra Zen
United utilities and maybe voda and tesco.

Any thoughts suggestions???

I'd leave out Tesco. They've underperformed for a few years and a lot of people
reckon the American adventure will end in tears. Without Terry they are not what
they once were.

mine would be (are)

tesco
astra zen
imperial tobacco
national grid
amlin
mitie
hill and smith

ok last 3 not in ftse 100 but all solid DIVIDEND paying companies. more importantly they are all growing dividends

Christ, I wouldnt touch banking shares with a barge pole for the forseeable future Shocked

Banking shares are now rock bottom they can only go one way, no chance of nationalization as many were suggesting on here a few years a ago. RBS & Lloyds now have shrewd gurus in place to ensure proper financial control.

"Banking shares are now rock bottom they can only go one way"

Erm...nope. Lots of things can make them go down further. Exposure to greek debt when they default (and it is when, not if), continuing stagnation in the housing market, general slowdown / likely double dip recession when the cuts really start to bite, etc etc etc.

To state categorically they are at the bottom now is incredibly foolhardy. They may be worth buying in a few years time once the overall picture changes, but no way now.

And there was never a chance of them being nationalized.

Turtle may be one of the best sports bettors in the world, but I would, if I were you, perhaps be a tad cautious of his financial analytical skills.

Thanks[:)]........I think there was a great risk of RBS being nationalized a few years ago.....not the case now though

Considering we were being run by the scots, the chances of them not bailing out a scottish bank were virtually zero, imo.
