looking at lse there are quite a lot of delayed trades at 4:57pm, at 2.67, but everything traded just before close was at 3.11, and there is another delayed trade at after close at 3.10. google finance showing a big delayed trade at 2.26pm, at 2.55p, when price was at 3.0p, so would take some of these things with a pinch of salt.

Are these only trade-able over the phone?

Went through the whole rigmarole of setting up an a/c with iii and then found they can only be bought over the phone. Is this the case with all brokers and penny shares/ HER?
Report gresty241 June 4, 2011 12:16 PM BST
bought mine online using hargreaves lansdown.
Report Whippet June 4, 2011 1:39 PM BST
td waterhouse can deal online.

I think this has to be very good value at current prices. In fact most AIM resources shares are dirt cheap atm; most have lost 25-50% since January. Minimal downside from here and plenty of upside, therefore huge value.
Report MONEY TREE June 4, 2011 4:59 PM BST
im on iii and buy them online.
Report Muqbil June 4, 2011 10:55 PM BST
How bizare.

The whole process of opening an account with iii has taken from last Friday until yesterday (obv a bank holiday in between). Once the account was eventually opened which required loads of phone calls as I never recieved a letter, I went to buy HER @ 2.60 and was referred to phone traders.

I will try HL as iii have been next to useless tbh. Thanks for your input guys, prob a big hurdle to the average joe buying HER is the whole charade of setting up accounts etc. Never had any such problems with CAD through Saxo, limit order, bumph, done.
Report turtleshead June 5, 2011 12:58 PM BST
I had no problems with iii, a couple of times the message came up about reference to phone traders but that could simply be because there were none available (or fewer than at the price you specified) at the exact moment you confirmed it.

Got confirmation emailed to me straight away, would happily use them again.
Report Muqbil June 6, 2011 5:51 PM BST
Will give it another try with iii before opening another  a/c.

Report Whippet June 14, 2011 9:01 PM BST
There is talk by pro geologists over on the iii board that todays RNS indicates that there is 22 million ounces of silver in that vein alone. Plus 5.9% Zinc and 2.6%. It seems highly probable that Patricia's resource estimate will be at least doubled by the results in November. That is before you even count whats at doris/la rosa (it is starting to look like all are inter connected). If the patricia resource doubles then we will be trading at 6p by november based on that alone, and significantly higher based on what the doris/la rosa JORC says. Start accumulating these heavily over the next 5 months because that is when the rocket will be taking off imo.

Report Whippet October 25, 2011 8:24 PM BST
this will be worth well over 20p if you are willing to wait a couple of years. They now have three porphyry copper targets on the go as per todays RNS (two at guagamanga and one at la rosa). If they indeed find one then it could be worth billions of dollars (as is usually the case with these types of deposits).
Report MONEY TREE October 26, 2011 4:48 PM BST
is it right that the deposits found at surface are rare and could indicate very deep veins of mineralisation?
Report Whippet October 26, 2011 6:47 PM BST
well they indicate a porphyry copper system may be underneath as there is nice grades at the surface. plus the molybdenum is usually typical of these deposits. these system are typically lower grade but contain million and millions of tonnes of ore, and are quite easily mined (open pit usually). most of the biggest deposits in the world are all porphyry systems and a lot of them are in chile, and not far away from this location. not to say they will find a monster deposit but even a small sized one would be worth hundreds of millions at least.

Report Whippet November 25, 2011 6:08 PM GMT
markets are shafted at the moment. but all the updates are very good. and if they discover any porphyry copper deposits (3 possible targets at the moment) then this will be worth many multiples of todays price as those are often worth billions of dollars.

Pulled the trigger today on 23635 shares. I want £1000 in various shares by the end of the year.

Would like to (eventually) build a large dividend paying portfolio.
Report Money Tree cost me thousands!! July 5, 2013 2:55 PM BST
How much would you have to invest in a dividend one to make it worthwhile?
Report J2BLUE. July 5, 2013 10:16 PM BST
Depends on the yield and what your definition of worthwhile is.

My definition of worthwhile is a few k a year to begin with. 5% yield, 2k a year I would need £40,000 portfolio. Far easier said than done. The 2k thing would be reinvested each year. Ideally eventually you would dividend income and other cash flow paying all of your expenses so you are financially free.

I'm going to target:

Warehouse/industrial REITs (depending on price, no research done on price yet, just a trend I think will happen)
Utility stocks
Mining stocks (not gold)
Medical stocks (need more research here but the world population is ageing, especially in Europe/USA)
Food producers
1-2 very carefully chosen retailers. (I have one in mind which I won't name! That stock is annoyingly up 3.3% since I decided it was a buy. I need a better job!)
Report Money Tree cost me thousands!! July 6, 2013 12:20 PM BST
Is retail safe?

I was thinking of doing a speculative portfolio as in try and predict where the country will be in a decade and buy stocks to suit that.
Report J2BLUE. July 6, 2013 8:05 PM BST
Any retailer which relies on selling luxury or expensive goods is one to avoid in my opinion but there are some things we all need even in a recession or worse.
Report Money Tree cost me thousands!! July 7, 2013 11:45 PM BST
Well that's wrong you better do your research again.

Take the supermarkets since 2009 the recession has helped stores like aldi increase market share.

But a store that has always been regarded as expensive (waitrose) has also increased.

Recessions may hurt many people but they also make others richer.

Don't write off luxury brands
Report Money Tree cost me thousands!! July 7, 2013 11:46 PM BST
I'd love to know the retail stock you have in mind j2 pm it.
Report J2BLUE. July 8, 2013 7:02 PM BST
There seems to be some confusion about what I meant. It also seems to be my fault because I can see how you got there. I didn't mean luxury brands like Waitrose or Ferrari etc. I am fully aware that sales of luxury cars/yachts etc have gone up and i'm also aware Waitrose is thriving. I live in Ipswich where they have opened a large Waitrose next to a large John Lewis (you can go into either shop and be in both shops, it's cleverly done). This local Waitrose is thriving and they plan on using the same style development in future based on the Ipswich model.

What I meant by luxuries was in the context of a bad recession/depression which I should have mentioned. So in the context luxuries was anything that isn't a basic need such as food, water, heat, light, petrol to get to work etc. All I meant was that I could see people tightening the purse strings and that high street retailers, like Argos, to take a completely random example would be something I steer clear of.

The stock in question is now up 4% on when I identified it. I won't be buying unless it drops down a bit. My strategy is future trends combined with good priced 'safe' stocks which will always have demand. This stock has made some very good decisions in the last year or so and looks very strong to me. Not willing to say any more.

Oh and by the way, regardless of some luxury brands showing strong sales, I still wouldn't buy them and since this game is a matter of opinion I don't see how I can be 'wrong' because of that. The rich will get richer, I agree, I still don't look on brands like Wairose as safe investments though.
Report Money Tree cost me thousands!! July 9, 2013 7:30 PM BST
That's lucky as you can't buy shares in them anyway!!

Yes I misunderstood your meaning of luxury.

One thing I am looking at long term is land. The bigger populations get the more pressure will be to develope for living and feeding.
