Well, I suppose I shouldn't be surprised. You aftertime trades on here that are pure fiction, why wouldn't you claim that I said things that are pure fiction.

If you post my post where I recommended on this forum that hyperinflation was a certainty or hyperinflation was the way to trade 2011, I WILL NEVER POST ON THIS FORM AGAIN. Otherwise, the whole forum would know you are a liar.

RBA rate decision today MrBen. What are your thoughts?

On Sky News Aust they said that some economists were predicting a surprise drop in interest rates. I think they're living in cloud cookoo land.

Looking at the AUD over the last month it looks like a rise has been priced in on the currency markets.

hi Pastie, weel its quite unlikely that rates will rise today. The econonmy here shows signs of tiring. We are very dependant on china and they keep trying to slow things down there. The main thing driving the AUD is  the carry trade , insurance payments and china.

A drop in interest rates?  don't think so.Our govt is left wing and wants to make everyone poor. Don't think it will give a free kick by reducing rates.Maybe if there was an election on.

AUD punched thru 1.10 yesterday for about 3 minutes. As far as my trading is concerned the uptrend is  still intact. Its always interesting to trade the AUD on the day of the RBA decisions.Good volatlity.
Good  luck if you trade it pastie, its very lucurative.[:x]

Cheers MrBen.

My charts have been offline since the London open today. Very frustrating after leaving them alone over Easter, Royal Weddings, ANZAC Day etc...

I agree about Labor in dear old Oz. Wayne Swan was interviewed last week and complained that the 2nd mining boom won't be as big as the first (ie - Swan can't waste the proceeds on Labor's hairbrained schemes) and that Costello wasted the first boom. I seem to remember it was Rudd and Swan dishing out $900 cheques to all Australians and p1ssing the nations wealth up the wall. Maybe my memory is failing me.

Back to Forex I'd probably want to see a decent retracement before getting involved. Most of the pairs that interest me were all reaching overbought levels so finding buyers in sufficient quantities at the current levels may be tricky. Better to wait for the price to fall and demand to build before dipping your toes in.

As for carry trades I'm surprised that the AUD hasn't advanced more against the yen. It got a kick up the @rse during the intervention in March but ranged during April.

Fingers crossed my brokers charts will be fixed by London open tomorrow. I'll keep my powder dry until then.

which are the main pairs your interested in pastie?
mine are, in order

aud/usd
eur/usd
usd/jpy
eur/gbp
aud/jpy

I traded the aud twice today, once  long and once short, two short euros and three jpy, one long and two shorts. The volatlity is terriffic today. Im falling in love with the  usd/jpy as it has been trading in a almost straight down trend for a while now.

Aud is 108.80 as I write this.I really can't see it going  much lower for now.

I caveat it all by saying I'm almost a  straight day trader now. The longest I  have held a trade recently was over night, but 90% are going through in a few minutes to a few hours.

re the aud carry trades.I think  in the back of everyones mind is that the aud is either overvalued  or vulnerable to a change in economic times. The aud could plummet to below 90 if there was a catastrophic economic event and I kinda think people  are hesistant to take loans out on a carry trade basis with that potential always omnipresent.

Have you checked silver? Whippet alerted me to it a while ago and its  moved up my list of  tradeables.

lolololo those 900$ cheques.I got one and put it towards a holiday. Virtually everyone here who had a job  said the govt should not waste the 900 bucks but  the govt did it anywayCry

all the best with any ccy trades you make.Happy

The only pair I'd swap from your list is eur/gbp for gbp/usd and also add eur/jpy.

I prefer longer term set-ups as I don't have time to spend hours looking at charts. However, I'll occasionally have a gander if I have the time.

Scapling can be very frustrating. Two steps forward, one or two back. However, eur/usd and cable offer good set-ups after Frankie take out the stops and London provide the direction. Buying or selling on dips with a very tight s/l using the 20ema on as a trigger on a 1min chart is a very simple strategy.

I've been waiting for U/J to reverse back up for what seems a lifetime! I'm happy biding my time.

eur/usd has been ranging for the last week between 1.476 and 1.489. It may be worth waiting for the break, a retracement to the new resistance / support level, and going long or short (whichever way the break occurs). May have to wait for US open for that though, although London is pushing it towards the top of the range now.

I put my 900 dollar towards a flight back to the UK. Straight into Branson's pocket. Such a waste. He'll only waste it on his horrid wooly jumpers.

E/U so far capped at around 1.4878 during the London session.

If it's going to break through it may need a small retrace to gather momentum - probably around 1.482. A close below there and it may make an attempt to push below the bottom of the range.

Hey Mr Ben. You been trading much recently? I've only focused on GU and EU over the last 2 weeks.

Both pairs bounced off the 20ema on the weekly chart a couple of weeks ago after the move down, and spent last week creeping up towards the 20ema on the daily chart before pushing back down a bit.

Can't trade Monday so I'm out for now but it could be an interesting week ahead - to add to the excitement there was a volcanic eruption in Iceland!
