Current Event didn't go on as expected over hurdles, but outclassed inferior rivals over this C&D on chase debut in November. Obvious chance. Get It On made the frame all 5 completed starts since making a winning debut over fences at Sedgefield (2½m) in September. No reason why he shouldn't give another decent account. Aussie Man and Van is a Bob's Return half-brother to smart hurdler/chaser Sports Line (stays 2½m). Bred to make a chaser, but up against it on belated racecourse debut. Edlomond found one too good on a few occasions in bumpers/novice hurdles, doing so again second try over fences at Stratford (17f) recently. Sure to win races in due course, but more required to lift this. Galantos got off the mark over hurdles at Hereford (17f)...

Shangani (14:00) shaped well after a lengthy absence when second at Towcester ten days ago and he can go one better in the opening race of the day at Fontwell Park. The six-year-old heads the Timeform ratings for this contest, considered 10lb superior to his nearest rival and 9lb in advance of the level of form usually required to win this race. He had demonstrated fairly useful form in France as a juvenile and was bought by current connections for €60,000; there was plenty of encourgagement to take from his return and his trainer, Venetia Williams, has been in fine form recently. If Shangani doesn not find this race coming too soon, he looks capable of keeping that run going today. True To Form (18:00) has a very impressive strike rate on the all-weather and he can add...

Full of Joy made a good start in handicap hurdles last season, winning at Newbury. Failed to repeat that after, but still with every chance when going amiss 3 out when last seen. Obvious contender on chasing debut. I'm the Decider has not always convinced with jumping/attitude but hard to knock him of late, winning for third time this summer at Stratford in August. More on plate now in stronger race back from short break. Graduation Night has a patchy record over hurdles, but quickly made into better chaser, winning novice handicaps at Wincanton and Chepstow within last fortnight. Double penalty to shoulder now but there's more to come. Massini Sunset made all to win twice in the mud last winter and back to that sort of form when runner-up over C&D in...

This week's Betting Briefing is sadly more of a weather guide than anything else... Sunday 5th December Lingfield was abandoned on Friday and Sunday's meeting hinges on a Saturday 3pm inspection. Ironically, while the all-weather cards struggle there is a more upbeat bulletin from Exeter who hope to race. There is also reason to be positive at Warwick where racing has a fighting chance of going ahead. Monday 6th December Bangor and Musselburgh have already fallen foul to the weather, but there should be all-weather action from Lingfield and a mixed card featuring three bumpers and three Flat races at Southwell. Tuesday 7th December Fontwell is the only hope for National Hunt racing on Tuesday given that Sedgefield has already been abandoned,...
