How to Make a Small Fortune

26 Aug 15 10:34
Let's say you've been awarded a lump sum of £30,000 (after slipping on a wet floor) and you've decided to invest the money following the top layers in a certain laying competition. You've checked out their form after 3,200 races and can't decide on the best strategy.  Should you follow the top layer to win £30 per lay, the top 3 layers to win £10 per lay, the worst performing layers as they're due for a good run or stick to all 15 layers to win £2 per lay?

Anyway 'The Comp' finishes after 32,000 races, I've got the data for 25,000 races but I haven't yet done all the calculations because I need some interactive input. I have the next 3,200 races which will restart with a new 1000 point bank and if anyone cares to choose layers by either random selection or by previous results, I will calculate the results then publish them at 3,200 races then 6,400 and so on. You can send me a PM or suggest a strategy on my How to Make a Small Fortune thread. At the end of 'The Comp' you might even get to find out who the winning layers are. All the data is for UK mainland only.

1 Layer £30 per lay
2 Layers £15 per lay
3 Layers £10 per lay
5 Layers £6 per lay
6 Layers £5 per lay
10 Layers £3 per lay
15 Layers £2 per lay

* P.Ave is the average and is not a layer

Update... I was hoping that someone would advise me to get rid of O.Yoko as the guy's losses were significantly below the average. I have decided to replace it with T.Fist's lays, compromising the data somewhat. Mischief

AFTER 1 YEAR (approx 9600 Races)

With hindsight, the profits would have been more impressive if I had started with 1/10 the bank...

and other price ranges (2-7)

Update... 2nd and 3rd year

So much for hindsight, year 2 would have busted a few £3000 banks.

Back to £30,000 bank results. Cool

K.Nite managed to make a profit, while L.Over's bank was busted.

10 Layers Update

with 7 price ranges

and alternate 10 layers results

with 7 price ranges

10 layers combined with max and minimum bank (14 diff price ranges)

Starting Commission compared

Note: Commission will get less over the 3 years. Shocked

Whose the fav lover?

Confused? So am I... this should make it a little clearer.
