choke from michelsen. no other word for it
By:
on a scale of Mirra collapses, that was one of the least bad ones. At least she didn't completely fall apart this time and kept it competitive til the end. Still a lot to work on as she shouldn't dig these holes to begin with.
She'll probably fall out of the top ten soon now. I'm surprised her ranking hasn't taken a big tumble after having titles in Dubai and IW to defend. |
By:
not for me caramba for numerous reasons. all the missed bps, slapping herself repeatedly, playing somebody carrying an injury and or gassed, got into a break lead in the final set and then didnt win another game. the list goes on. if thats not one of the worst collapses shes had i have no idea what could possibly be worse
By:
michelsen about to lose this breaker so thats gsm to taylor harry. no way he wins a decider after that muggery serving it out and then the tb
By:
wow, how did Fritz not win that set point
By:
oh and all the dfs and ues for mirra. what could possibly be worse than all that
By:
By:
Fritz loses sp on serve and then the next point on serve. deserved to lose the set and match for that alone

crazy crazy Indian Wells. Bublik 1.1 goes bang, Mirra 1.02 goes bang. hampered Fritz continues to play tournaments and continues to underperform. it's a mystery who advises that dude. I wonder what the next drama is going to be?!
By:
yes wise bonkers so far today. Fritz definitely needs to take time away and heal his injury. andreeva needs to go and be a teenager for a year and bublik needs to head to vegas for his yearly blowout and then come back and beat the likes of sinner like last year
By:
Fritz is greedy, but someone should tell him he'll make more monies in the long run by resting up.
By:
might be concerned about his ranking falling outside top 20 and getting toucher draws, but it's a small price to pay imo.

*tougher
By:
i want the name of the shamen vacherot visited where he organised the deal thats seen him go from challenger mug to mainstay on the main tour. its like two different players
By:
Mirra mugging for the larger part of a year now is another mystery.

*Iga
(applies to Mirra too soon) |
By:
all she has ever known is tennis and being successful at it too. shes had no life outside tennis and probably no life outside of being successful in tennis and so she has no idea how to cope with adversity. she really is like a child that hasnt grown up and learnt about adversity and setbacks and how to recover
By:
the best thing she could do is take some time out and go and experience some life, she would come back a better player for it
By:
if for no other reason that she might realise how lucky she is to be so talented and not behave as she does not which is to be entitled. nothing comes for free in tennis no matter how good you are. you have to work for it and because there are many other good players out there you are going to lose and lose plenty. she could do with some sage words from nadal. he would set her straight.

iga sets up a repeat score from doha
By:
so easy for Iga when she doesn't mug.
By:
don't think there's another player who can switch so quickly from playing like a top 30 player to playing like a top 2 player.
By:
hell top 30 is generous, she struggles against top 60 players on a bad day.
By:
very true caramba
By:
thoughts on Mirra's reaction after losing and how it might effect her popularity / how the IW fans might treat her in future? she's meant to be playing doubles for Vicky later
By:
she will probably win the over again with her smiley when things are going well personality.
By:
*them
By:
if she turns up for the doubles there is something seriously wrong. would be like out of the pressure cooker and into the fire. needs to get away and take stock and reset hopefully with some good advice from those around her because today was an abomination and really needs to be rock bottom
By:
a stroppy teenager having an outburst is probably not something they will carry a grudge over.
By:
stroppy teenager excuse only goes so far. doesnt go as far as that for me
By:
meanwhile iga determined that it wont be a routine win today
By:
her outburst from another camera angle.
https://x.com/christianscourt/status/2031149865116328405 Someone couldn't believe it ![]() |
By:
also caramba do you really believe its acceptable for her to basically get away with that behaviour. i do not
By:
indeed it's all over Twitter. that's not going away now. her reputation will be damaged from this, at least temporarily
By:
It's nothing new. Will just be seen by the hardcores and they already know. It'd be a bigger deal if she did this at a Slam after losing to a home player in a SF or something.
By:
if Coco Gauff had done that at Wimbeldon after losing to Emma Navarro, it would be all over the media. Mirra's had alot of leeway the last 6-9 months. she's still doing that smacking her leg really hard thing when things start to go wrong. she threw her racquet today countless times and smashed them too. after losing she was super emotional and swore at the crowd. it doesn't look good, does it?
By:
its a disgrace wise. age or not
