It's almost time for Wimbledon!

We'll do our usual tennis talk here in this thread, but for this one we'll also try a Wooden spoon competition to keep us entertained.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wooden_spoon_(award)

It's pretty straight forward. Just pick four names and if either of them wins the Wooden spoon, you win.

You can play the men's, the women's or both. Make four picks. Here are mine.

Men's:
Pinnington Jones
Ugo Carabelli
Shevchenko
Fucsovics

Women's:
Sönmez
Cirstea
Parks
Rus

A retiring Kvitova is obviously a dangerous banana skin on this surfce for Real Rich Emma in the first round. I think Petra will be ready to go for it in the first two rounds with an eye on a possible third round farewell clash with the reigning champ and fellow Czech Krejcikova.

The illusionist has a fairly sweet run in the first week and the real prospect of an all Italian clash with Jannik in the quarters.

It looks like Demon might get another crack at Novak in the fourth round. How much would he feel inspired to be the player to end the Djokovic story at SW19?

Nice too see people made picks. I'll make updates every now and then. With 16-20 picks in each division, it's possible we see one of the picks winning.

did they have them last year?

sad to see Ons struggle all the time. I feel like she's never been the same since she had knee problems and as far as I know she didn't opt for surgery to fix the problem. this must be 2 years ago by now? then she had shoulder problems last season but I feel all this struggling comes from reduced movement

I really feel she's dealt with the situation very poorly. she's 30, not 35. Jess Pegula is 6 months older than her yet moves like she's 5 years younger

BF used to always stream it. I think it's been a bit more hit and miss in recent years.

yeah I know. But 365 is slighty behind BF so it's annoying when Betfair are too cheap to pick up the rights/too lazy to fix tech issues.

Some muggery play going on in Norrie v Agut - Norrie gave him masses of chances to break back, but he kept missing all.

15 UEs from Agut - must be close to his worst in a set.

He did alright in the end. Somehow lost the 1st set when serving to stay in it. Won 2nd and 3rd easily. Wasn't able to break in the 4th, but the tb was one way traffic. Dellien, despite hating grass and pretty much only playing Wimbledon isn't as bad on grass as you'd think given his strong aversion to it.

true. Just like Bet365 who told me that the reason I wasn't able to access streams for Wimbledon qualifying this year, which I had benn from 2005-2024, was because of restrictions made to my account in 2019.
