Crazy to think that Iga, who hasn't really missed anything in the past 52 weeks apart from a few weeks of Asia due to a doping suspension, will be seeded as low as 8 at Wimbledon.
By:
should be seeded lower imo
By:
if they seeded like they used to which took into account not just ranking but grass pedigree then swiatek should be ranked a lot lower

who's fronting Wimbledon this year? is it Balding?

Not sure wisey

borges an early contender for mug of the week. break up in second set, can't hold it. mp on return, can't take it. 40-15 in the next game, loses consecutive points to lose game and set.
By:
mug of the week confirmed. can't see this from borges being topped. drops his serve in the very first game of the decider and that's the end of that as far as him winning this goes
By:
Kenny de Schepper 1.02 got busted earlier but it was challenger qualies so there wasn't much gubbed
By:
De Schepper's opponent deserves all the luck in the world for having been named after a Star Trek Voyager character by his parents.

Toad are you going to be taking on Bublik this grass season after he got his ranking back up and thus he's relaxed a bit and won't have prepared well enough / be motivated?
By:
I will never take on Bublik wisey ! I would rather not win money and cheer him on vehermently !
How do you see the womens side going, any value picks for the win if you had to pick now ? |
By:
let's see if anybody can top borges now that he has lost. that was grim
By:
I haven't thought about it too much yet, but when I've got my opinion made up I'll let you know.
sometimes it's hard to pick one exact player, but before RG my brain was screaming at me "Iga/Rybakina/Sabalenka won't win" and "it's Mirra/Coco/Qinwen/Jasmine" but that was the only real hunch I had. and then from those 4 it felt like Mirra was the least likely, and after that I couldn't really find a way to pick one out of the other 3 |

By:
I remember Iga being 3.6 to win Wimbledon. Was that last year or 2023? 15.5 to win it this year.
By:
I don't think Maria Sakkari or Harriet Dart will win Wimbledon Toad, so you can rule those two out
By:
Arantxa Rus, Camila Osorio and Emiliana Arango aren't winning it either
By:
what do you have against Colombians!?
![]() |
By:
nothing?
By:
oh, and lastly Tadde Maria definitely won't be winning it
By:
If we only count her wins, then Camila Osorio is still undefeated on grass in her career.
By:
ok, good to hear it's nothing personal and more that they don't have a culture of playing grass tennis.
By:
should I do the wooden spoon comp for Wimbledon? Or at least an inofficial version here in the weekly threads?
By:
Eva Lys won't be winning it either, and we can definitely rule out Princess Alycia Parks
By:
it's of course very hard to predict wooden spoon winners.
So far in 2025 we've had AO men's Lukas Klein AO women's Caroline Garcia RG men's Dusan Lajovic RG women's Linda Noskova Rafa Nadal won the wooden spoon once! |
By:
It's 2-2 and Mirra is already channeling her inner Rublev and hitting body parts.
By:
Leylah winning ugly but my goodness she looks totally disengaged at the moment. Hard to believe it's the same person whose energy and refusal to lose dragged Canada onto the BJK podium.
Maybe a break would do her good as she's not (ever) changing the core structure of her setup |
By:
Father might not allow a break.

So she looks listless in addition to just playing crap these days? No fist pumps? Twirls? Shouts?
By:
She looks totally checked out. Shakes hands and almost forgets to acknowledge the enthusiastic crowd.
By:
Maybe the tennis season should generally have a month or so long summer break. There is room after Roland Garros.
By:
Enable everyone to recharge after the first six exhausting months.
By:
Well also there's an elephant in the room that will start to be talked about soon.
I was thinking that if Anisimova breaks the top 10 and continues to have a fantastic season the other players will be thinking hang on she looked miserable before her year out and now she's flying. maybe I should... |
