Old Tadde Maria is about to serve for the match.

Badosa hadn't lost her serve since the second service game of the match (don't think she had even faced a break point), but was then broken easily to 15 when she served for the match just now.

Badosa had barely committed a double fault all match, but made her second one on her first match point at 6-4 in the tiebreak.

....but wins the next point to still come through.

Some Aussie trivia. Which years did these things happen?
1) Novak thrown out of Australia before the tournament even begun
2) the Rybakina vs Blinkova TB
3) Woz retires from tennis
4) Cornet makes her first Slam QF by beating Halep
5) Badosa had sexy dreams about Stef for the first time?

Some may be same year.
By:

When: 12 Jan 25 08:44
1) 2022
2) 2024
3) 2020
4) 2020
5) 2023

....but I'm horrible with years because these things are always one big blur for me.

I guess under my year blur circumstances it's an ok result actually.

it is a blur indeed. I saw that Blinkova plays today, which reminded me of the TB against Ryba but I couldn't tell if it was last year, 2023 or 2022. It was indeed last year.
You were two years off on Cornet. It was 2022.

Loos like Eurosport (Germany) does its own on-court advertisement. They are currently showing the Sabalenka-Stephens match. On the left side of the court they (or someone) put a digital "Google Pixel" on-court print in white. That same print is not there on the internet stream at that British all year round betting company.

Not all year round in leap years

They brought up an interesting point on R5L. If French Open agrees to electronic live calling, fans booing players for asking an umpire to check a mark will be a thing of the past Sad

Fans booing players for having a tirade because they think the mark differs from the electronic line call will still be a thing. Happy
By:
SamuelMertensBertens
When: 12 Jan 25 09:08
That is true. But very few players will do this as they know it's a battle you can't win whereas with a mark you have a chance of getting it go your way.

With all the good French young guys, the WC goes to 30 year old Lucas Pouille Plain
By:

The good French young guys all qualified directly.

we might have to rename wisewords Houdini.

I wondered if maybe the French just went with whoever was highest ranked not to qualify directly and just found out that the WTA rankings page does not allow you to look at historical rankings from six weeks ago while also filtering for country. Laugh

Someone give the WTA a few hundred bucks to pay an IT student to implement that feature for them over the course of a few days.

I have always assumed there goes some thought into deciding who gets the WC, but maybe it's like you say. And with this tournament being on the other side of the earth, they care even less.

Looks like Dokic has lost some weight. In a healthy way, not Marion Bartoli style.

Former Australian Open breakout star Aslan Karatsev is playing Nonthaburi challenger qualies. Was sub 1.1 prematch favourite and lost the first set 0-6.

He ended up losing in the semifinal against some 21 year old unranked German. On the plus side he didn't retire.

but what's the point of these exchange WC's if you're just gonna send a 30 year old no-hoper? Would be better to just opt out of the program and use that extra WC for your home Slam.

Speaking of no-hopers: Is Chardy for Alycia Parks already over again or is he only her part-time coach? Chardy is in Humbert's coaching box tonight.

Opelka so lucky there. Hits the net cord, it bounces off opponent's shoulder so it's point Opelka. Big point too, got the mb back in the breaker.
