I think it's because Coco kept beating her in all the rallies, but now Jess just broke Coco from 40 love up!

muggy errors here.

Knew the slight altitude would make Pegula play unwell.

Kate Bierhoff, daughter of German footballing hero Oliver Bierhoff, is about to start her tennis match in qualification of the W75 Ismaning.
She doesn't seem to be the brightest ever prospect at first sight, but maybe her father's riches will allow her to keep plugging away and become a late bloomer. |
|
By:
she needs to work on her altitude problem.

@islandtennisace Maxime Tchoutakian has announced the end of his 4-year coaching partnership with Vika Azarenka. He has coached Vika to an AO semi (2023), IW final (2021), notably. If you're on Vika retirement watch, I have to say this news kind of scares me. https://x.com/islandtennisace/status/1853035104064708910 |

the groups in Riyadh are called the orange and the purple group
![]() ![]() |
|
By:
What's the problem with that?
|
|
By:
They used to be named after the color of the host nation.
Then Mexico would not do that, but name them after something local instead. So that's fine. And now KSA is just randomly calling them orange and purple. Should have been the Werder Bremen colors. |

*nation's flag

|
By:
Maybe MbS loves purple and orange as colors.
|
|

Also found this theory on TF
Tournament director Muguruza must have chosen purple and orange to remind her of the first time she beat Serena at Roland Garros: https://www.tennisforum.com/threads/wta-finals-2024.1420101/page-5?post_id=85283063#post-85283063 . |

I see Santa Cruz is another of those South American clay courts that try to destroy the ligaments of any player that runs for a drop shot.
Luckily, Arango seems to be fine. Unlike Todoni and a few others were when the Florianopolis court did the same to her last season. |
|
By:
Though Todoni also didn't do any lasting damage then. She was back after the off-season in late January.

ban clay courts?

Last night the umpire, trainer and presumably tournament director allowed a medical timeout for some very obvious cramping.
https://www.atptour.com/en/atp-challenger-tour/challenger-tv/challenger-tv-search-results/2024-8386-qs009-matsuyama-kokoro-isomura-vs-takuya-kumasaka/2024/8386/all Isomura started was full on cramping when it would have been his turn to serve at 3-3 in the final set, but was allowed to recover and eventually won in a final set tiebreak. Kumasaka should write a letter of complaint to the ATP. |

Caramba is a fighter for justice and rules.

And what happened in that match was clearly unjust. See the link and what happened in the final set at 2-3 and 3-3.

oh look, Rybakina being super smiley at the press conference.
|
|
By:
Rybakina definitely making 20 matches in 2025 coached by the only man in history (I just realised) that reached three Wimbledon finals in one millenium and won Wimbledon in another millenium!
|
|
By:
That's so disrespectful towards Todd Woodbridge.
|
|
By:
Rybakina starting to look like her old self. she'll be a big danger come AO
|
|
By:
needs more condition though. nothing a good pre-season can't fix
