Is the last Russian that didn't severely underperform at most slams Maria Sharapova?

There was the attempt to injure himself.

all this talk about Rublev and "if only he could contain his emotions ...". Well he did for most of this 3rd set and has been super flat.

but emotions or not, Arnaldi has been the better player since I tuned in after the 1st. And his levels hasn't dropped.

being saved by the rain for now. Also, 3 of 4 women's matches today have started with one player getting a 4-0 lead.

The person that invented rain deserves an award if Potapova goes on to even win this first set here.

what happened to Rinderknech, very rare you see a player retire when match is equal or he's in front, 99% of the time it's when they're losing and are going to lose

....Rinderknech apparently broke a toe when he kicked a sideboard in anger.

I need to be extra careful with my Rublev bets then. Risk for both default and injury.

Iga will beat Bouzkova 0 and 1 imo. Clay is by far the czech's weakest surface as she cannot quite move and play her usual defence on it.#FamousLastMusings

This was without the closed roof of course Blush

The French are too quick to close the roof. Unless it is really coming down hard, let them play in the rain and keep the roof open. That's part of clay mastery.

that reminds me of when Nalbandian kicked the advertising hoarding at Queens against Cilic in the final and was defaulted, the lineman who was 'hurt' made a proper meal of it. Can't ever remember anyone other player being defaulted in a final, Serena was defaulted in the semi of the US Open allowing Kim into the final was the nearest

When: 31 May 24 16:11
she was not defaulted. Got a point penalty which meant GSM.

I think the Nalbandian linesman actually drew blood, and not in an imaginary way suggested by Cilic.

I would for sure milk any injury caused by temper tantrums. If these spoiled tennis brats are jerks it's going to cost them.

It was then that he had his serve broken when he failed to retrieve cross court winner from Cilic. Having scampered in vain across the baseline to try and retrieve it, Nalbandian suddenly launched an almighty drop kick at the wooden plyboard which housed the chair of Yorkshire line judge Andrew McDougall.

Cool

Oh god, Yorkshire people are the most dramatic of them all. Our own doridoru was one of them.

that seems a reasonable rule btw. If you actualy draw blood from someone, it should be a default.

I remember his post match interview, crowd were booing at on point, he looked distressed, trying his best to explain how much pressure the ATP puts on players to play as many events as possible and he was tired

Yeah, in modern times it probably is a reasonable enough rule, but it also shows how soft we have all become. Back in the day that line umpire could have lost both arms and would have declared it was just a little flesh wound, no biggy.

SamuelMertensBertens

Laugh he's a hothead and then he blames ATP. Funnily enough I've ever seen any other playing cause a line judge to bleed.
