Agreed. He is the best. Roger will probably pretty universally be known as the most naturally gifted and flair player of all time though.

Novak barely played any Masters 1000's last year. Rafa would do well in saving his body too. Should skip Madrid, but it's in Spain so of course he won't.

No, Lapko is right regarding the conditions. They have looked tough on stream. Still, she signed up to an outdoors tournament and especially on the ITF circuit you gotta handle the grind instead of demanding you get to be put indoors (which coincidentally happens to be your best surface).

next we see of rafa will be 1st week in april at m carlo........he has not won miami but i cant see him playing before m carlo...........if he rests from now untill the euro clay swing it will maximise his chances of getting to 22 in june at roland garros......its now or never....now way will fed come back and win another.....he was shocking at wimbledon last year and a whole year off at age 40........forget it
novak will be absolutely going nuts.........he has won his last 8 hardcourt matches against rafa and in the draw was scheduled to meet him in the semis.....so he may have lost to medvedev in the final but at least he would have prevented rafa from getting number 21 by beating him in the semis

i cannot believe rafa won....in the first set he got totally outplayed.....i would not have backed him at 100/1.......and after losing the second - he could have won it - he went 1-2 down and love 40 in the 3rd......no way could he win..........how the heck did he win it......ultimately he has more shots in his locker than medvedev.......his volleying is superb......med is a pure baseliner and there is not enough flexibility in his game

i never thought id say this but i truely believe rafa is the goat now after this........novak will have to come and overtake him.......as wilander said on eurosport this is the greatest comeback in a slam final...joko somehow won wimbledon 2019 but he won the first set.........

Agreed, very interesting.

You get used to Novak excelling despite crowd hostility and 'using it' but Novak is somehwhat unique.
A lot of people warmed to Murray when he started to let his emotions/sensitivity show, maybe the same will happen here.

Fwiw, the crowd were just over-enthusiastic in their support of Rafa rather than being anti-Med.

Also the fact he could go past Novak must've played a huge part.

Agreed wesdag. I actually think once Fed and Rafa have retired Daniil will be very well supported, he is a charming and intelligent man.
