It's a 32 player main draw
By:

When: 26 Sep 20 10:47
The entry list consists of every single player ranked from #11-#24.

So who exactly are the 14 players not direct entry then? What's the make up. I assume that includes 2 top 20 WC's that won't get used for starters which means Muchova defo in regardless of WC.

Good! Muchova can swag serve indoors.

Will be Vika's 3rd title of the year after Cincy and RG.

First time I remember watching Vika was coincidentally indoors.

Made me curse against Sharapova for losing against some 18-year old nobody in Moscow.

A shame no-one besides Ostrava could step up, when quite a few cities/federations did for ATP.

ATP has managed to put together a somewhat normal, respectable calendar post-RG.

WTA has one event in what's one and a half months up to the normal finish of the season.

Japan should step up and create a month worth of tournaments.

yeah, the fans could bring their lil noice button gimmicks to cheer (and boo) since they are not allowed to make noice with their months.

I think it will have to do with indoor tournaments being (a lot) more expensive to stage than outdoor tournaments.
By:

Or at least I would expect them to be more expensive to stage.

surprised this hasn't been discussed more. Don't know about TF, but I haven't really seen anything on this on twitter.

What specifically? Noise button gimmicks because they are not allowed to make noise with their mouths?

Sorry that I need to ask, but...did you make all those spelling errors on purpose or has your spelling really gone to levels worse than that of ww?

By:

When: 26 Sep 20 11:42
Get it together, man! You can't allow your spelling to consistently be worse than wisewords'.

Isn't the WTA also mugs for not getting this sorted, even if it would cost them some monies? The way it's going down, it makes women's tennis look so inferior by having their season fall apart like this, no Year End championships etc.

the WTA tour being in shambles.
Come on, I always struggle with noise/noice because there was famous music group in Sweden spelled with c once. And months, well I have no excuse for that CryCry

I think no YEC is ok with there having been like 4 and a half months of play instead of 10.

Not being able to schedule any normal events is the really bad thing.
By:
edy
When: 26 Sep 20 11:53
The ATP not only has a normal ATP event calendar, they also have two challenger events scheduled every week up to the end of october.

There are two aspects to this. Financially the top players will be alright even with no YEC, whereas for the lower ranked players not having a proper regular tour will hit them harder. Why I mentioned YEC is because it is a showcase event for the WTA and not having one is likely to garner more publicity for them, whereas media won't really care if Linz is being played or not. But all of it is making WTA look anything but strong.

I also yesterday read about Thiem having said that the new Wilson balls get terribly soggy and heavy. Didn't know how serious he was because it came immediately after he said something along the lines of "The old Babolat balls were perfect, same as my racquet brand".
