you need to remember what the crowd pops for. Fabio v Sock. usually Fabio would win easy right in a GS match? but it's fine for Fabio to job here because the crowd don't idolise him. and it helps Team World get some points. but when it's Nick v Roger, the crowd will be super disappointed if they pay to see Roger and he doesn't win

honestly I don't know why Novak isn't here. Could be political, could be that Roger just doesn't like him, could be a financial decision (it's gonna sell out anyway so why pay him a high appearance fee?), could be to have more even teams which benefits the competition.

they can always find a way with the lopsided scoring system. Europe could win 8 out of 8 matches in first 2 days and tie would still be alive for day 3.

The Laver Cup is an international indoor hard court men's tennis tournament between two teams: Team Europe and Team World, the latter of which is composed of players from non-European countries. Held annually, the tournament is intended to be the Ryder Cup of the tennis world. It takes place two weeks after the US Open, with the location rotating.
In addition to the guaranteed participation fees which are based upon the players' ATP rankings, each member of the winning team gets $250,000 in prize money, but the tournament itself does not count towards the players' point totals in the ATP world tour for that year.[3][4] In May 2019, the Laver Cup became an officially sanctioned ATP Tour event. |
